At Lam Research, we believe that getting involved in, and giving back to, the communities where you live and work is one of our most important roles as a company. This central belief guides our philanthropic efforts to help improve our world.

Our Employee Gift Match program encourages your community involvement and supports the nonprofit organizations you care about. This program may vary by region. In North America, monetary contributions are matched dollar for dollar and volunteer time is matched at the rate of $10 per hour up to $2,000 per year.

Core Values Scholarships:A reward of $10,000 is typically given to one student from each of the seven local high schools in Fremont and Livermore, California.

Academic Partnerships: The partnerships are created with local organizations and local and international universities.

Community Engagements: Volunteering opportunities and resources enable employees to become actively involved with their communities.  Some activities at Lam Research include helping needy families and children (school supplies drives, holiday food and toy drives, etc.), supporting environmental restoration and sustainability, and organizing onsite blood drives.

Examples of how Lam Research and our employees have helped people internationally in 2010-2011 include:

Japan Disaster Relief: Lam Research made a $150k corporate contribution to the Red Cross and matched $150k in employee contributions to relief efforts.

Public Service and Sport Sponsorships: Lam Research is involved in sponsoring public services such as local police and fire departments. The Company also sponsors community youth sport teams. These sponsorships vary by each location.

Lam Research Korea’s Fun Makers: Each year the Fun Makers program selects 12 Lam Research Korea (LRK) employees to develop an array of fun activities for everyone in the LRK office, including community volunteer opportunities. For the past couple of years, on LRK’s Opening Day Anniversary, the employees roll up their sleeves and clean up the neighborhood surrounding their office. In 2011, the Fun Makers organized an event where 30 Lam Research Korea (LRK) employees and 15 National Nature Trust volunteers hiked 40 minutes up Jiri Mountain, a beautiful and well-known area of southern Korea, to plant 300 young trees. The event was held in an effort to restore the Jiri National Forest, the natural habitat of the Asiatic black bear (Bandal Gom).

Lam Research Austria Carinthian International Club (CIC): In 2011, Lam Research Austria was honored with the TRIGOS Award that acknowledges corporations who not only assume a sustainable responsibility for society, but also are committed to humaneness, integration, tolerance, and environmental consciousness. The CIC, founded in 2009, helps with the integration of foreign colleagues from industry and educational institutions by providing information, services, and an active working network in the local region.
