This is an exciting opportunity to fully realize a career with Focused Ion Beam – Scanning Electron Microscopes (FIB-SEM) in a semiconductor focused environment.

Successful candidates will be well versed in sample preparation, instrumentation, and imaging for some of the following techniques: Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM), FIB-SEM cross sectioning, Electron Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS/EDX), Critical Dimension Scanning Electron Microscope (CDSEM) measurements, sample cleaving and Cross Section SEM (XSEM).

Samples are representative of a diverse set of processes from across the integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing process and will provide a dynamic set of challenges and opportunities for growth over the long term.

We operate several generations of FEI/Thermo Fisher Helios tools, including the latest models.

The Impact You’ll Make

As a Process Engineer at Lam, you will operate on cutting-edge technology, harnessing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to push technical boundaries. Your role involves developing new and advanced process formulations, defining equipment hardware to meet processing requirements, evaluating test data, and coordinating design requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Your expertise and knowledge play a crucial role our customers success, making an impact on the next generation of semiconductor breakthroughs.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Preparation of samples using FIB to create STEM lamella, followed by in situ STEM imaging
  • Proper handling of sensitive customer samples and intellectual property
  • Assisting customers in locating regions of interest, interpreting data, and troubleshooting when data does not meet expectations
  • Document findings in pathfinding work to assist team members in following.
  • Develop processes to solve complex problems; work to improve existing processes to reduce variance and improve output.
  • Communicate with team members to facilitate technique transfers, pass down sample learnings, and advance the state of the art in semiconductor microscopy.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An MS/BS in a physical science with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Senior level position. Prior experience with electron microscopy required.
  • Knowledge of dual beam scanning electron microscope/focused ion beam technology is preferred.
  • The candidate should possess good written and verbal communication skills to work with a large internal customer base.
  • Proficiency with Windows PC’s and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with developments in the semiconductor industry and its materials is a plus.

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $82,000.00 -  $181,000.00

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
