Job Responsibilities

SOX Program Manager

This position is a key role in the Lam Internal Audit team and reports to the Managing Director of Internal Audit. This individual should have a strong understanding of US generally accepted accounting principles, COSO principles of internal control, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and major financial and operational processes in a technology manufacturing environment. The individual should be a self-starter, accept responsibility to meet and/or exceed deadlines and maintain a current knowledge base of accounting and audit industry practices and to ensure best practices are always considered. The individual must have the ability to positively interact with management and staff at all levels. The individual must be a team player while having the necessary capabilities to work independently, have a positive “can do” attitude, and the willingness to learn new concepts in a fast-paced environment. The SOX Program Manager should also have an aptitude for understanding and analyzing financial processes and controls and the ability to make constructive recommendations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform annual SOX scoping analysis and financial risk assessment, ensuring alignment with external auditors.
  • Drive the SOX program planning process, including partnering with business process owners around narratives and key controls, working to ensure effective design.
  • Coordinate walkthrough meetings between process owners and external auditors.
  • Oversee external audit SOX request coordination
  • Monitor and perform deficiency evaluation, advising process owners on remediation strategies and holding them accountable to completion.
  • Be the WDesk administrator and drive improvements in the use of the tool and associated business processes
Other Job Responsibilities

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a business partner to key stakeholders and train/advise on process, risk, control, and compliance related challenges
  • Plan and coordinate the annual SOX testing process
  • Work with the Managing Director of Internal Audit to resource the SOX testing process appropriately
  • Assist SOX testers with developing test plans and troubleshoot issues that come up in the process of testing
  • Lead a team of testers that includes direct reports, matrix Internal Audit personnel, finance and accounting staff, and 3rd parties
  • Provide effective supervision to, and review the work of, other auditors.
  • Review SOX testing workpapers
  • Coordinate IT application control testing performed by 3rd parties
  • Be willing to perform SOX testing, if needed
Minimum Qualification

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on external and/or internal audit experience, including the managing/directing of other auditors
  • Prefer candidates with professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant, and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Experience with auditing in high-tech, manufacturing, and global environment preferred
  • Big Four experience preferred

OTHER INFORMATION

  • The position will be based in Tualatin, OR.
  • This individual should be willing to travel up to 10% with the travel being both domestic and international in nature.

  • Strong organizational or project management skills
  • Teamwork and people management skills
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Be able to present and articulate value-added audit recommendations to members of management
  • Knowledge of the COSO internal control framework and the Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirements
  • Solid understanding of business processes as well as Enterprise Resource Planning systems
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively present information to management
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Demonstrate Lam core values
  • Ability to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined in the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) mandated by the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Knowledge and experience of testing IT general and application controls and experience with SAP financials is a plus
