Job Responsibilities

In addition to regular functions, the Process Engineer 4 will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, interface directly with customers at a management and engineer level. They may plan projects involving new concepts and approaches in the development of new processes, plus the following:

 

•Responsible for thin film deposition (CVD, ALD) process development projects
•Responsible for performing professional process engineering research, development and evaluation
•Review processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products
•Design, conduct and coordinate required experiments and tests, interpret experimental output, generate reports for both internal and external distribution
•Support LAM JDAs with IBM that involve deposition processes
•Closely work with technical IBM teams and other LAM sites
•Be field owner to drive and resolve system related escalations and quality investigations
•Deliver creative solutions in process design and its applications
•Work with senior engineers and customers to understand customer technology roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements and business challenges
•Flexibility to be cross trained into etch, clean and process integration
•Plan, conduct and direct complex projects or major phases of significant projects
•Define problems and objectives, develop approach, analyze results and provide recommendation for new and existing Lam equipment
•Own and drive successful completion of process related JDPs
•Works with cross-functional teams to get information and results needed
•May execute fundamental engineering design and analysis with supervision
•Coordinate statistical analysis of failure rates and develops CIP
•Advise to effect design changes. Regularly contribute to key technical solutions, technology and process development
•Monitor/analyze equipment performance trends
•Professionally represent the company to the customer
•May perform other related duties as assigned or requested
•The job will require some business travels and evening meetings to connect with teams from different time zones

Minimum Qualifications

•PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Physics preferably related to semiconductor industry or M.S in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics with 3 Years of work experience in semiconductor industry
•Experience in ALD, CVD of dielectrics or metals
•Former experience in plasma etch is a plus
•Knowledge of semiconductor industry, process integration, semiconductor devices, patterning, lithography
•Experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques and in material characterization techniques such as XPS, XRR, XRD, SIMS, ellipsometry
•Understanding of physics of semiconductor devices and materials
•Basic knowledge of electrical characterization techniques
•Familiar with working in a chemical laboratory
•In-depth understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE) 
•Interest in advanced technology and an on-going desire to learn
•Strong project management, good written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners
