Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up a global center in Bangalore to expand its reach Indian talent pool. Over decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and engineering support functions work collaboratively to design, develop sub-assemblies and sub-systems for Lam’s next-generation products. LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.

 

There is an opening for the role of Electrical Manager. This position is based out of Bangalore directly reporting to the head of WETS Products Electrical group in LIGHT department of Lam Research India. This individual will provide engineering leadership and drive product solutions in new product development and high-volume WETS Deposition Product Lines.

The Impact You’ll Make

Position will be leading & realizing results per established Department Goals & Objectives (G&O):

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of 7-10 Electrical/Electronic engineers with diversified experience at Lam India performing Product Development activities for deposition products.
  • Owns and drives projects with primary focus on design, development, modification, and evaluation of PCBs, electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical and electronics engineering applications
  • Determines design approaches and parameters. Leads design review discussions, analyzes equipment to establish operating data, facilitates experimental tests and evaluating results. Helps and guides team members in developing vendor capability, supply chain eco system.
  • Be able to highlight technical risks and drive mitigation plans. Maintain and develop process checkpoints to ensure adherence to design standards and schedules. Work with leadership peers to drive process improvements as necessary.
  • Interacts with India and US-based Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineering Managers of Deposition Product Groups regarding workflow, prioritization, reporting out, resource management.
  • Work with peers across the globe to develop and implement vital design processes and BKM’s.

Who We’re Looking For

Master’s in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with minimum 10 years of relevant experience (or)

Bachelor’s in Electrical / Electronics Engineering with minimum 12 years of relevant experience

 

Mandatory skills and experiences required to perform the job:

  • Functional and validation proficiency in developing IO/Logic Controllers and applications, low-voltage Electronic Circuits, Control Panels to work as part of a sub-system or as a distinct sub-system and setting up equipment for experimentation / testing in laboratory environment using safe practices
  • 2-4 years of prior experience in managing direct reports, hiring and assimilation, performance management and development of electrical engineers with diversified experience
  • Experience in working with cross-disciplinary teams (including mechanical, electro-mechanical, software, process, manufacturing engineers) for major projects
  • Demonstrated leadership skill in decision making and problem solving in planning, roadmap and change management with minimal data or supervision
  • Proficient in standards and compliances like IPC, NEC, NFPA, UL 508, IEC standard

 

Desirable Skills

 

  • Experience with capital equipment or similar (for e.g., chemical process, medical instrumentation, automotive, aircraft, etc.) industry in a sub-system design function
  • Exposure in vendor development and concurrent engineering role
