Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up an Engineering center in Bangalore to expand its reach to Indian talent pool. Over two decades, this center has expanded its capability and scope beyond Engineering and is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGO (Lam India Global Operations). Within LIGO, manufacturing engineering, cost performance engineering, supply chain and logistics, spares operations and planning, order fulfilment, inventory management, and supplier QA engineering functions work collaboratively to deliver best in class solutions for Lam’s global operations.


There is an opening for the role of Group Manager for Cost Performance Engineering (CPE) team within LIGO. This position is based out of Bangalore, and closely working with Global Pilot Operations team based out of US and Europe. This individual shall collaborate with all Product Groups in Lam India, US and Europe, providing engineering leadership on should costing and design for cost solutions & strategies based on semiconductor technology landscapes and global business environments.

What You’ll Do

 

Job Responsibilities:
Position will be leading & realizing results per established Department Goals & Objectives - 
•    Lead, develop, and mentor a group Costing Engineers performing Should Costing analysis and Design for Cost recommendations for components / sub-assemblies that are primarily manufactured by metal machining, sheet metal, and plastics fabrication methods.
•    Work closely leadership and team to establish roadmap for capability growth.
•    Owns cost engineering technical discipline at LIGO across multiple products in etch, deposition, clean engineering, and platform engineering. 
•    Maintain and develop process checkpoints to ensure adherence to design and costing standards and schedules. Work with leadership peers to drive process improvements and digital transformation initiatives.
•    Interact with product group Engineering Managers, global Costing Engineers, Supply Chain Managers (Supplier Engineering and Technology, Supplier Business Manager, Materials Program Managers for new and existing products) across the globe regarding workflow and in delivering business results. Collaborate with product engineers in recommending alternate and latest manufacturing technologies that provide cost effective solutions.
•    Accountable for CPE group functions and planning: assigning work and prioritizing in consistent with Product Group roadmap and volume manufacturing needs, mentoring & coaching, budgeting, and strategic planning to build capacity and capability.
•    Drive change by contributing to productivity and to differentiate products & processes – continuous improvement & Innovation.
 

Who We’re Looking For

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor / master’s in industrial / production / mechanical / manufacturing engineering with 4-6 years of supervisory experience in relevant industry.

Mandatory skills and experience required to perform the role:
•    Excellent leadership skills in planning, strategizing, innovation & must have managed group of 10-15 direct reports by owning Group goals and Department roadmap.
•    Demonstrated expertise in product/commodity/component costing and guiding the team in recommending cost effective solutions thru alternate/latest manufacturing techniques.
•    Prior experience of minimum 4-years in performance management, hiring & assimilation, and development of engineers with diversified experience.
•    Experience of working with cross-disciplinary teams (including mechanical, electro-mechanical, software, manufacturing, and supply chain) for program/project delivery.
•    Possesses strong structured problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated leadership in utilizing data to develop insights and drive actions to improve process adherence, quality, and value.
 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Desirable skills and exposures:
•    Exposure to Costing software tools in finding product costs.
•    Knowhow of Semiconductor / Wafer fabrication equipment industry.
•    Exposure to supply chain management and procurement.
•    Proficiency in Project Management tools (MS Project), exposure to Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) concepts and Cost Reduction ideas.
•    Understanding of systems engineering and systems integration.
