Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up a global center in Bangalore to expand its reach Indian talent pool. Over decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and engineering support functions work collaboratively to design, develop sub-assemblies and sub-systems for Lam’s next-generation products. LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam’s global engineering footprint.
There is an opening for the role of Group Manager - Electrical. This position is based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to the leader of WETS (Wet Equipment Technology Solutions) Group in LIGHT department of Lam Research India. This individual will provide engineering leadership and drive product solutions in new product development and high-volume WETS Product Lines.
The Impact You’ll Make
- Lead, develop, and manage a group of Electrical Engineers / Lead Engineers at Lam India performing Product Development activities for multiple products.
- Owns Electrical Engineering technical disciplines with primary focus on design, development, modification, and evaluation of PCBs, electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications
- Group/Team functioning & planning: Owns staffing, training, mentoring & coaching, budget and strategic planning to build capacity and capability.
- Determines design approaches and parameters. Leads design review discussions, analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Helps and guides team members in selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Reviews vendor capability to support product development.
- Assigns work & prioritize in consistent with Product release roadmap and volume manufacturing needs
- Understand & adheres to Lam business processes, standards & compliances, best practices, and works to proliferate within and across teams
- Effectively works in matrix organization by aligning with all stakeholders to meet goals and objectives
- Drive change by contributing to Productivity and to differentiate products & processes – continuous improvement & Innovation
What You’ll Do
Mandatory skills and experience required to perform the role:
- Excellent leadership skills in team planning, strategizing, innovation & must have managed team of 10-15 engineers by owning Group goals and Dept roadmap.
- Functional, technical and validation expertise in IO Controller design and applications (PLC), low-voltage Electronic Circuit design, Control Panel/Powerbox Design
- Prior experience of 5-7 years in performance management, hiring, assimilation and capability development of engineers
- Experience of working with cross-disciplinary teams (including mechanical, electro-mechanical, software, manufacturing and supply chain) for program/project delivery
- Decision making experience to solve problems related to Engineering and Business processes (ex: development of solutions for Engineering/design change execution & implementation) and in collaboration with cross functional team
Who We’re Looking For

Master’s in Electrical Engineering with minimum 12 years of relevant experience (or)

Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with minimum 16 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- SEMI knowledge & experience
- Experience in working with cross-disciplinary teams (including mechanical, electro-mechanical, software, process, manufacturing engineers) for major projects
- Awareness of standards and compliances like IPC, NEC, NFPA, UL 508, IEC standard
- Exposure in vendor development and concurrent engineering role

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
