Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. We have an open position in the LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). The Hardware group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability. This position is for the role of Group Manager for Etch Engineering – Product Ownership Department (POD) within EPG and is based out of Bangalore. In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supplier quality engineers contribute to designing and improving Lam’s products. to deliver best in class solutions for Lam’s global customers.

What You’ll Do

Job Responsibilities

Position will be leading & realizing results per established Department Goals & Objectives (G&O), Roles & responsibilities include.

  • Department functioning & planning: staffing, training, budget, strategic planning, work assignments & prioritization per program commit dates, co-ordinate with Business Units (BU), Cross functional teams, Management communication, dept. effectiveness & growth.
  • Understand & adhere to Lam business processes, standards & compliances, best practices, and proliferates the same to entire department
  • Contribute to design improvement through effective design review of thermo electro-mechanical systems.
  • Effectively thrives in matrix organization by aligning with all stakeholders without compromising on “Quality, Delivery & Cost (QDC)” to meet dept. goals
  • Leading in realizing Project or Program commitments as per scope, schedule, and collaborates with team to follow all established business processes & adhering to all engineering due diligence.
  • Contributes to product release roadmap consistent with Lam vision, strategies & product technology roadmap.
  • Responsible for department performance to execute medium to high complex sub-system projects with full ownership & expand ownership by acquiring new capabilities.
  • Provide leadership
    • Coaching & Mentoring engineers to meet their career aspirations
    • Realize results through effective department capability (people & infra) development & sub-system project ownership
    • Drive change by contributing to Productivity and or to differentiate products & processes – continuous improvement & Innovations to influence system architecture

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s in Design/Thermal Engineering with minimum 10 years of relevant experience – preferred (or) Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 14 years of relevant experience with 4 to 6 years of Supervisory experience

Mandatory skills and experience required to perform the job:

Min. of 8+ years of product development experience with capital equipment or similar comprising electro-mechanical systems of high complexity

Demonstrated leadership skill in decision making and problem-solving pertaining to engineering problems in absence of complete or accurate data.

Skilled in managing interdisciplinary engineering department by managing teams for min. 4-6 years on tasks, projects, or programs by being well versed in Mechanical Engineering & awareness of Electro-Mechanical systems

Excellent leadership skills (dept. planning, capability planning, strategizing, innovation), & must have managed team of 10-15 mechanical engineers by owning dept goals, PMD (Performance Management & Development) & roadmap.

Demonstrated ability to lead, conduct design reviews, seek approval in collaboration with stakeholders to implement design & participate in approving design executed by others

Preferred Qualifications

Desirable Skill:

Contributions to customer escalations / field problems including trouble shooting, containment actions, failure analysis report & corrective actions.

System engineering principle and knowledge/skills related to Electrical & Electronics

Knowhow of Semiconductor / Wafer fabrication equipment industry

Exposure and working knowledge of Team center and NX tools, SAP PLM release process, product structure and configurations, Cost performance

Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process, Project Management tools (MS Project etc.) & Exposure to VAVE concepts would be an advantage
