What You’ll Do
Position will be leading a team of mechanical engineers while working with stakeholders in a matrix organization & realizing results per established Department Goals & Objectives (G&O). Roles & responsibilities in brief include as below.
- Technical leadership to team on thermo-mechanical systems for full engineering responsibility with awareness on electro-mechanical system, and later be able to take accountability to approve design.
- Effectively works in matrix organization by aligning with all stakeholders without compromising on “Quality, Delivery & Cost (QDC)” to meet dept. goals
- Assignment of work & prioritization per program commit dates, co-ordinate with PG/Product Manager/program Managers/Cross functional teams to align or mature scope, & later align on overall project execution plan
- Leading in realizing Project or Program commitments as per scope, schedule, and works with team to follow all established business processes & by adhering to all engineering due diligence.
- Understand & adheres to Lam business processes, standards & compliances, best practices, and works to proliferate the same to full department
Who We’re Looking For
Master’s in Design/Thermal Engineering with minimum 12+ years of relevant experience – preferred (or), Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Skilled in managing interdisciplinary engineering department by managing teams for min. 6 years on tasks, projects, or programs by being well versed in Mechanical Engineering skills with focus on thermal, material, structural & electro-mechanical systems
- Engineering Problem Solving with min. of 8+ years’ experience in product development with capital equipment or similar comprising electro-mechanical systems of high complexity
- Decision making and Problem-solving skills pertaining to engineering & people aspects in the absence of complete or accurate data.
- Excellent leadership skills (dept. planning, capability planning, strategizing, innovation), & must have managed team of 10-15 mechanical engineers by owning dept goals, PMD (Performance Management & Development) & dept roadmap.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct design reviews, seek approval in collaboration with stakeholders to implement design & participate in approving design done by others
Preferred Qualifications
SEMI knowledge & experience
- Contributions to customer escalations / field problems including trouble shooting, containment actions, failure analysis report & corrective actions.
- System engineering skills, and knowledge/skills related to Electrical & Electronics
- Contributions to IP through innovation
- Exposure and working knowledge of Team center and NX tools, SAP PLM release process, product structure and configurations
- Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process, Project Management tools (MS Project’) & Exposure to Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) concepts would be an advantage

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
