Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up an Engineering center in Bangalore to expand its reach to Indian talent pool. Over two decades, this center has expanded its capability and scope beyond Engineering and is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGO (Lam India Global Operations). Within LIGO, manufacturing engineering, cost performance engineering, supply chain and logistics, spares operations and planning, order fulfilment, inventory management, and supplier QA engineering functions work collaboratively to deliver best in class solutions for Lam’s global operations.
Lam India has an opening for the role of a Manufacturing technical lead engineer within LIGO Manufacturing Engineering. This position will be based out of Bangalore, reporting into LIGO Fixture design Manager within Manufacturing Engineering team and closely working with Global Manufacturing sites.
Job Resonsibilities
LIGO fixture engineering team is creating a framework which covers entire fixture life cycle from requirements until maintenance of the fixtures. This role is critical to execute designs, collaborate with supply chain and supplier for procurement and validation of fixtures. We are in constant pursuit of enhancing fixture life cycle through continuous improvements and innovations.
- You will be designing, developing and implementing safe and cost-effective complex equipment (fixtures, outriggers, jigs, test equipment) for all phases of manufacturing.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective action for any fixture failures during the build process.
- Suggest equipment, process changes leading to cost reduction or operation enhancement. Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials, validation plan using Engineering Change Management process.
- Coordinate with suppliers and Mfg. sites for implementing the validation plan. Interact with global manufacturing engineers regularly to prioritize and manage projects.
- Provide immediate response and timely resolution to design related production issues encountered during the build process.
- Conduct & Participate in Design Review to gain consensus from the cross functional teams. Interface with manufacturing and engineering teams to understand the requirements in the early design stage.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Master’s in mechanical / production engineering / manufacturing engineering with 6-10 years of experience in relevant industry.
- Proficient in Designing, developing and validation of complex fixtures used for lifting, handling, transportation, testing of large assemblies/products using OEM components like leadscrews, LM guideways, motors, bearings
- Proficient in DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), FMEA with approach to structured problem-solving and decision-making
- Proficient in CAD modeling applications such as UG NX, Creo and any of the PLM/PDM systems
- Proficient in developing test and maintenance plan for fixtures
- Experience in collaborating with suppliers and Mfg. sites for validation of fixtures
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects including ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in assembling product in a manufacturing set-up
- Knowledge of conducting DFMEA and Managing Risk
- Knowledge on Semiconductor equipment and its assembly process
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) & presentation skill.
- Proven customer interface skills, with ability to influence both internal and external customers in technical matters.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
