Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 4 to 8 years of experience in Mechanical/ Electromechanical, component engineering alternate parts component qualification, testing and evaluation.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and perform Mechanical and Electromechanical alternate/replacement parts qualification, testing and validation
- Initiate and lead efforts to identify and qualify second sources for material availability, performance, cost reduction and reliability improvement.
- Perform Alternate component search and provide a detailed Component comparison report and should be a decision maker on component attributes.
- Provide inputs on component selection to new designs to improve product reliability by participating in design reviews and DFMEA.
- Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical design, procurement, and manufacturing) to ensure compatibility.
- Maintain a standardized parts library to optimize reuse and minimize part proliferation.
- Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to evaluate component availability, lead times, and pricing.
- Evaluate component obsolescence/single-source-components risks and recommend interchangeable replacements(Form, Fit, Function compatible) to avoid supply chain disruptions.
- Own the completed component evaluation, guide team on component related specification issues in finding solutions.
Mandatory Skills
- Understanding of detailed manufacturing process and end to end parameters of Mechanical/ Electromechanical components such as Fittings, Tube & hose Assemblies, Fasteners & Hardware’s, Pressure switch, Pressure gauge, Valves, Flow Switch, Hydraulic & Pneumatic components, Precision components etc.
- Expert knowledge in Mechanical component parameters and their significant impact on product performance.
- Review and interpret component data sheets and its significance on product performance.
- Understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and how tolerances affect mechanical assemblies.
- Dealing with uncertainty during testing of alternate/replacement components
- Working closely with design engineers, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams to optimize component usage for DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
- Creating BOMs (Bill of Materials), specifications, and qualification reports.
- CAD Software Knowledge, Preferably NX and Creo.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of BOM Management tools like Silicon Expert and HIS.
- Experience with PLM, Library management and Various Industry standards such SEMI,DIN,ISO and ASME.
- Experience with documentation standards.
- Knowledge of Pneumatic Schematic, schematic, and mechanical component evaluation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and Design environments
