There is an opening for the role of Hardware designer Senior with Handlers team - Global Product Engineering (GPE) function which is part of Lam India Global Hardware Team (LIGHT) organization at Bengaluru. This role is expected to lead CAD design and release activities for the group. This position will be based out of Bengaluru, directly reporting to the leader of Handlers NPD team - LIGHT GPE and closely working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams at Lam India and other regions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Executes concept design, OEM Components selection and development of mechanical parts and assemblies with minimal guidance.
- Executes mechanical design selection with suitable material and builds the assembly.
- Selects suitable manufacturing methods (machining, castings, sheet metals, metal printing etc.) and chooses right surface treatment methods.
- Ensures documentation in compliance with SEMI, Lam Standards, and other standards applicable (ISO, ASME, ANSI, DIN etc.)
- Create/ Modify CAD models and understand the impact of top-level structure
- Create and modify engineering drawings & bill of materials using Engineering Change Management process
- Interacts with India and US-based Mechanical Engineering Managers of different Lam Product Groups regarding Design activities
- Provide immediate response and timely resolution to design related production issues during the build process
- Support & Participate in Design review to get buy-in from all cross functional teams
- Investigate and implement corrective actions for medium complexity design issues.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Years of experience: Minimum 5 years of experience
- Educational Qualification: B.E (Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing) or equivalent
Mandatory Skills:
- Design of sheet metal parts, machine components, piping weldments etc.
- Design and Selection of OEM Mechanical Component – PEMs, Weld Fittings, other fasteners etc.
- Expertise in Manufacturing process – Sheetmetal Designs, Machining and Welding etc
- Experience in ANSI/ASME standards, Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in 3D Modelling, Assembly and Detailing using Creo or any CAD packages.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and creating complex (Chamber & Frame) Mechanical Drawings & Specifications, Welding and GD&T.
- Proficient in PLM & PDM Software (Preferred Teamcenter and SAP)
Desirable Skills:
- Proficient in Engineering Change Management Process
- Experience in various fabrication methods (Sheetmetal & Machining)
- Knowledge on Semiconductor equipment and its sub systems
- Experience of DFX
- Experience in using AutoCAD for schematic diagrams (P&IDs)

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
