We primarily compete in four specific areas – Deposition, Etch, Photoresist strip, and Clean. One of the major functional group of Lam Research India is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). The LIGHT group designs - subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability

There is an opening for the role of Mechanical Engineer 2 within the Customer Support Business Group (CSBG) of LIGHT organization. This position will be based out of Bangalore and will closely be working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams across global regions of Lam Research like US & Asia.

CSBG mainly focuses on delivering value to customers throughout the product lifecycle by providing Spares, Upgrades, and services to maximize the value of customer capital assets.

The Impact You’ll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

In this role, you will directly contribute to the Product design & development for CSBG

What You’ll Do

• Responsible for performing design and development of mechanical components and assemblies
• Designs components using variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
• Create electromechanical layouts, packaging, fixtures, tooling, and mechanisms. 
• Works with technology development, product engineering, suppliers, manufacturing and quality group to define specifications and complete the full design cycle. 
• Hands on experience to take design from concepts thru detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction with suppliers, assembly, test, build verification with deeper understanding of issues faced, lessons learned and closure.
• Creates documentation and conducts design reviews in support of design efforts
• Collaborates with designers/drafters to generate medium complexity design documentation
• Responsible for doing basic mechanical engineering design calculations involving Structural & Thermal analysis
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Validates designs through prototype/computational modeling to support engineering decisions
• Provides resolution to medium complex problems
• Conducts guided brainstorming sessions and publishes clear notes
• Collaborate with internal teams to for procurement and assembly of components and equipment.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering with 4 to 8 Yrs Exp.
• Proficient in 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX or CREO
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience in project management, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
