The Impact You’ll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

In this role, you will directly contribute to 

 

  • Owning & executing medium to high complex Mechanical sub-system projects to design, develop, optimize, & implement design solutions in Lam Products. These projects would be driven as part of PRs, NSRs, Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction and/or reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, structural design, fluid/gas dynamics and manufacturability.
  • Ability to perform medium to high complex Structural analysis, Thermal analysis using software like NASTRAN/other simulation software.
  • Ability to employ FMEA, rigorously for risk mitigation and to perform  RCCA using 5Y, Fishbone Diagram etc.

What You’ll Do

  • Develops & execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design (Travel to Onsite and Customer Fab as per need).
  • Collaborate with both internal and external CFT to ensure the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing & obtain approvals by following Product Development & Release (PDR) process.
  • Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.) as well as best known methods for GD&T; accordingly, demonstrates knowledge and ability to properly utilize them.
  • Develops & presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis & validation at design reviews.
  • Prepares all required deliverables requested by product development plan (e.g. FMEA, technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, design review presentations).
  • Provide immediate response & timely resolution to escalations & design related production issues encountered during the pilot as well as HVM build process.
  • Critical thinker with proven ability to create solutions for complex engineering problems with an ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent presentation skills to effectively communicate design intent, analysis & validation at design reviews.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selection of OEM components like Fluid system fittings, Valves, Mass Flow Controller, Transducers, Pressure Regulators, Sensors, Gauges, Heat sinks, cooling fans etc.
  • Understanding Process & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID).
  • Strong manufacturing knowledge i.e. machining (conventional & non-conventional), welding, installation and assembling of big components, sheet metal fabrication, Ceramic component manufacturing, heat treatments processes.
  • Interpretation of Test result and computational modelling result in relation to hardware design.
  • Application of GD&T and hand on experience in Tolerance stack up analysis & Interference calculations.
  • Good understanding of semiconductor capital equipment industrial (SEMI) standards.
  • Knowledge and exposure to ANSI, ASME, SAE, ISO standards applicable to semiconductor industry or equivalent standard.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years; or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Semiconductor industry
  • CAD (NX and Inventor)
  • FEA software (ANSYS or Nastran)
