The Impact You’ll Make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.
What You’ll Do
- Owning & executing medium to high complex Mechanical sub-system/system projects to design, develop, optimize, & implement design solutions in Lam Products. These projects would be driven as part of NPD, Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction and/or reliability improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with both internal and external CFT to ensure the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing & obtain approvals by following PDR process
- Leading program commitments in consistent with established business processes & by adhering to all engineering due diligence (DFMA, DFMEA, tolerance, calculations, FEA – static, DFX
- Designs parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/plating’s. Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives
- Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards, and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.) as well as best known methods (BKMs) accordingly
- Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics and manufacturability
- Develops & execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design & presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis & validation at design reviews
Who We’re Looking For
- Ability to work well in a matrix organization with aggressive deadlines, ability to align on priorities, etc. while focused to realize end objective
- Application knowledge: hands-on experience on any CAD (NX is preferred) with design, drawing, drawing standards & GD&T
- Hands on experience to take design from concepts, detail engineering (Tolerance analysis, dFMEA, 8D problem solving, RCCA, 5-why, DFMA), Test plan, Testing, etc. & through detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction with suppliers, assembly, test, build verification
- Accountable for releasing complete engineering drawings & bill of materials per “Engineering Change Management Process”
- Provide leadership
- Contribute to specific dept. goals & objectives as initiatives with key aspect being capability (people & infra) development
- Drive change by contributing to Productivity and or to differentiate products & processes – continuous improvement & Innovations to influence system architecture
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills on decision making and problem-solving in the absence of complete or accurate data, while working with team & also contributing to product/process differentiation through innovation
- Demonstrated ability to conduct design reviews, seek approval in collaboration with stakeholders to implement design, also contribute to others design
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience in leading projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
