Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making       leading-edge semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. We have an open position in the Hardware group. The Hardware group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability. In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supplier quality engineers contribute to designing and improving Lam’s products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
  • Assist in providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management
  • Ensure documentations are consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.)
  • Provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation  
  • Directly support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication
  • Develop and present reports/presentations that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at executive-level meetings
  • Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives
  • Collaborate with India team, US vendors and US based PG Engineers on a regular basis, Mentors and guides team members
  • Leads idea generation for future product/company/tech needs.

Minimum Qualifications

•Master’s in Design/Thermal Engineering with minimum 10 years of relevant experience (or)
•Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 14 years of relevant experience
•Minimum 8+ years’ of hands on product development experience with capital equipment or similar comprising electro-mechanical systems of high complexity
•Possesses strong engineering fundamentals, working in the semiconductor industry with knowledge on vacuum systems, thermal, pressure, valve and motion controls
•Highly skilled in ‘managing/working with’ interdisciplinary engineering departments in achieving project / program objectives
•Working knowledge of  Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Statistics Process Control (SPC), DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) methodology, Root Cause-Corrective Action (RCCA), 8D & 5-Whys Problem solving
•Demonstrates ability to contribute insightful technical ideas to other engineers’ design work, machine systems, and new hardware/application scoping


Preferred Qualifications

  • Contributions to customer escalations / field problems including trouble shooting, containment actions, failure analysis report & corrective actions.
  • Product engineering experience in SEMI & in specific design contributions to etch chamber, vacuum systems or gas delivery.
  • System engineering skills, and knowledge/skills related to Electrical & Electronics
  • Exposure and working knowledge of Team center and NX or any other CAD tool, SAP PLM release process, product structure and configurations
  • Knowledge in Engineering Change Management Process, Project Management tools (MS Project etc.) & exposure to Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) concepts
  • Good understanding of semiconductor manufacturing process, equipment’s, standards
