The Impact You’ll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

 

In this role, you will directly contribute to the success of Non-Standard Requests (NSRs) for Deposition Product Group (DPG) for Lam Research. 

What You’ll Do

  • Designs components using variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
  • Conduct detailed analysis including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, and manufacturability to properly specify designs.
  • Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
  • Provide key deliverables including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high-quality, cost-optimized, and to requirements.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Interact with PG counterpart in US and work closely with Engineering team and handle customer escalations with RCCAs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years; or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in complex analytical calculations for structural, pressure, flow & thermal engineering problems. Build Prototype, Test and troubleshoot variety of difficult mechanical problems.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as FMEA and DFX (cost, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability) and good at problem solving techniques (RCCA, 8D, 5Why etc.)
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD tool CREO Or Any CAD packages
  • Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Exposure to Value Engineering would be an advantage
  • Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
