Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and enhances electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic subsystems. 

  • Collaborates with India and US-based Mechanical, Electrical and System Engineers to deliver engineering milestones related to Robotics design, development, and design improvements.  

  • Co-ordinates and works with cross functional team and peers across the globe to select, test, implement and roll-out important design processes. 

  • Delivers body of knowledge management for sharing learnings, participates in technical publishing. 

  • Selects of links, bearings, actuators, and other mechanical parts for Robotic arm development.  

  • Leads robotic arm cycling testing, conducts product function, performance, reliability & durability tests. Facilitates the product tear down analysis after conducting reliability cycling. 

  • Conducts research, documents the findings, and presents the reports at product design reviews. 

  • Executes design changes, develops the analytics, math models and mentors the designers.  

  • Leads the electro-mechanical & firmware integrations for development projects in lab. 

  • Leads Innovation focusing on Equipment Intelligence and develops unique system architecture for robots & other sub systems. Drives the unique ideas to patents and compelling project proposals. 

Mandatory skills

  • Proficiency in engineering robots and material handler's mechatronics subsystems 

  • Proficiency in developing math models related to kinematics, structural and systems performance.  

  • Knowledge in design and developing the prototype of mechatronic devices with ability to size and select motors, solenoids, gears, sensors, and springs. 

  • Knowledge in packaging electronics like printed circuit boards, sensors, connectors, and cabling 

  

Desired skills

  • Experience in semiconductor, medical, chemical, and processing industries. 

  • Exposure to implementing electronics & control boards. 

  • Knowledge of SEMI, UL, or equivalent safety standards  

  • Experience in working with cross-disciplinary teams (including mechanical, electro-mechanical, software, process, manufacturing engineers) for major projects.  

  • Basic knowledge in Robotics, Control architectures, System integration, Product reliability evaluations. Exposure to DFMEA, design for reliability and design for safety. 

 

Education Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechatronics PhD with 3+ years of relevant work experience (with Mechanical & Electrical graduate background); Mechanical Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant work experience

There is an opening for the role of Mechanical Engineer 3 – Mechatronics with Global Product Engineering (GPE) function which is part of Lam India Global Hardware Team (LIGHT) organization at Bengaluru. This role is expected to lead mechanical engineering, mechatronics related activities for the group. This position will be based out of Bengaluru, directly reporting into the leader of GPE - LIGHT operations and closely working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams at Lam India and other regions. This role is responsible for supporting the design, development of mechatronics subsystems of robots and handlers related products. The incumbent will support the new product design, continuous improvement projects product testing and other engineering deliverables.
