What You’ll Do

  • This position will be based out of Bangalore, reporting to the leader of Modeling & Reliability team in India, and closely working with Local and Global Product Groups. This individual would be responsible to simulate complex multi physics problems to aid product or process development by working closely with engineering teams in the US and Asia region. Individual’s primary job responsibilities are listed below:

  • Molecular Dynamics Simulation: Conduct advanced molecular dynamics simulations to model and analyze chemical processes in semiconductor manufacturing. This includes simulating interactions at the atomic and molecular level to optimize processes.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize chemical processes and identify areas for improvement. Use simulation data to suggest modifications for enhanced efficiency and yield.
  • Material Characterization: Evaluate the properties of materials used in semiconductor manufacturing through molecular dynamics simulations, helping to select the most suitable materials for specific processes.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets generated from simulations, extract meaningful insights, and present findings to the team. Use data-driven approaches to make informed decisions.
  • Research and Development: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in molecular dynamics modeling techniques and apply them to solve complex problems in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of simulations, methodologies, and results. Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with process engineers, materials scientists, and R&D teams to integrate modeling insights into real-world semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Mandatory Skills required to perform the job:

 

  • Educational qualification: M.S./M.E./M.Tech/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with a focus on molecular dynamics modeling
  • Years of Experience: Masters with 10 to 12 years of relevant experience/PhD with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong background in molecular dynamics simulations, quantum chemistry, and computational chemistry methods.
  • Use of ab-initio methods for predicting material properties using DFT tools like Gaussian Package and VASP
  • Proficiency in using software packages such as LAMMPS or similar molecular dynamics simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate simulation data into actionable recommendations.
  • Use of AI/ML techniques for Data modeling and evaluation
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Use of modeling tools like Fluent/CFD Ace
  • Sound knowledge of semiconductor wafer processing equipment and plasma physics will be added advantages.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
