The Group You’ll Be A Part Of

This position will be in the Supplier Engineering and Technology group (SET), within Lam India Global supply chain operations group, working as a Sr. Group Manager, Supplier QA with a variety of suppliers in the Vacuum technology space, in partnership with many Product Groups within the company.  This offers a unique opportunity to have visibility across the whole spectrum of what Lam makes, develop relationships across the company and with a variety of suppliers, work both with C&F teams for New Product introduction as well as maintaining our existing tools and designs.

At Lam, as a Sr. Group Manager, Supplier QA, you excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, leading product development in the semiconductor equipment industry. You will manage a high-performing team, work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams, solve technical challenges in real-time, and mentor the team to meet Lam's quality standards. Your passion for innovative engineering projects helps drive industry progress by addressing challenging problems and partnering on solutions.

 

In this role, you will work with Lam's C&F teams and suppliers, guiding your team to develop new designs in vacuum systems. This includes advanced valve designs, heated products for particle and sealing issues, actuators, bellows, precision manometers, pumping, and more. Our Complex OEM team covers various high-tech fields, providing opportunities to collaborate on diverse projects across the group and the company.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, develop and manage a group of 10 to 15 Supplier Engineers with diversified experience in complex OEM parts like Valves, Bellows, Pumps, Manometers and other precision engineered OEM components.
  • Create, review, and maintain a technical capability development roadmap for the complex OEM supplier engineering group in consultation with SET team located globally.
  • Foster good communication and alignment with various stakeholders, including supply chain, Product and Program Management, Product group with Global and Local Engineering.
  • Ensure stakeholder alignment on all reporting metrics and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that the group is asked to generate and report. Provide direction and mentorship to teams to solve supplier manufacturing process, design and reliability issues.
  • Establish and maintain process checkpoints to ensure components meets to design standards and schedules. Collaborate with leadership peers to drive process improvements at suppliers as necessary.
  • Plan and manage the budget and resources for the group in consultation with Global and local SET heads.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience in scaling organizations to meet long-term objectives. Collaborative and team-working skills - ability to succeed in a highly team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in technical coaching and project mentoring in programs that involve Product Engineering and NPD teams to ensure that supplier components meet design, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Experience in situational leadership and motivating teams to achieve business results. Demonstrated leadership in decision making in the absence of complete or accurate data.
  • Experience working in a company with a global footprint that involves remote stakeholder management.
  • Proven ability to handle critical and safety-related quality escalations with cross-functional teams includes Product group (PG), NPI (New Product Introduction), Field Service Engineers (FSE), Accounts Team (AT), Global Product Support (GPS) and Global Quality team.
  • Expertise in Failure Analysis (FA), 8D process, 5-whys, FMEA, Design-for-Reliability, Weibull analyses, etc., to efficiently solve our most complex problems.

Minimum Qualification

A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 12 years with a Master's degree, or 8 years with a PhD, including 6-8 years of management experience in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Automobile sectors

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior product design and technical engineer experience in vacuum systems is beneficial.
  • Experience in quality and reliability systems in semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or related hardware, tools, and equipment is a plus.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and project management.
  • Knowledge in six sigma (DMAIC approach), SPC tools and usage of Minitab, JMP
