Position Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed, and seasoned legal generalist based in Bangalore. This positions will be primarily responsible for providing legal advice and support to Lam India in connection with ongoing business operations, new market opportunities, government engagements, capex projects and other strategic investments, with a focus on ethics and regulatory compliance. This role will report into the Ethics & Compliance team with dotted line reporting to other executives in the Legal department and will partner extensively with business leadership and other cross-functional stakeholders. This position will be hired as either a Sr. Manager or Director level based on the ultimate scope of the role and the successful candidate’s qualifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Regional General Counsel. Serve on the Lam India leadership team and provide general legal services across all business units enabling profitable growth while mitigating legal and regulatory risks and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, company policies, core values and ethical standards 
  • Ethics & Compliance. Drive the Ethics & Compliance program for Lam India coordinating effective implementation of compliance policies, procedures (including third party due diligence), training and communications, internal investigations, and other initiatives
  • Corporate Secretary. Perform corporate secretary function and ensure compliance with corporate laws and regulations in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and other functions; help plan for and prepare minutes of Lam India board and committee meetings
  • Disputes. Manage dispute resolution, litigation, and regulatory matters related to Lam India; retain and manage outside counsel and consultants as needed
  • New Legal Obligations. Monitor and provide timely advice on changes and developments in relevant laws and regulations and assist in developing strategies for compliance readiness with new or emerging regulatory obligations with the potential impact to Lam
  • Other. This job description is not an exclusive summary of all the duties of the position which include other related responsibilities to provide legal support as directed by the Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief IP Officer and other Legal executives 

Who We’re Looking For

  • Law degree and admitted to practice law in India with minimum 12-15 years relevant post qualification experience including company secretarial matters
  • Company Secretary certification (ACS/FCS) required

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a U.S. multinational company providing legal support through various phases of growth, preferably with global manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of broad legal subject matters like antiboycott, anti-corruption, antitrust, corporate, cyber, employment/labor, EHS, ESG/CSR, environmental, government contracting, IP, privacy, product safety, real estate, procurement/sourcing, security, trade, etc.
  • Extensive experience as regulatory counsel in compliance and risk management, including third party risk oversight, government interactions, and trade compliance, among other areas
  • Proven track record of business partnership with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with ability to influence decision makers at all levels
  • Effective project management and presentation skills with ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Strong customer orientation with ability to maintain independence and autonomy in the face of strong business pressures
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ease and comfort working independently and as a global team player in matrixed organization
  • Willingness to work non-standard and in-office hours (this is not a remote position)
  • Fluency in English
