Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge-semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. One of the major functional group of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). The LIGHT group, designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability
There is an opening for the role of Technical Writer 2 (Senior Technical Writer) within the Customer Support Business Group (CSBG) of LIGHT organization. This position is responsible for creating and editing technical procedures and manuals for internal and external customer reference. This position will be based out of Bangalore and will closely be working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams across global regions of Lam Research like USA & Asia.
CSBG mainly focuses on delivering value to customers throughout the product lifecycle by providing Spares, Upgrades, and Services to maximize the value of customer capital assets.
Job Responsibilities
- Creating and editing technical procedures and manuals for internal and external customer reference
- Collaborate with engineers and core writing staff to finalize procedures using Microsoft Word, ensuring content accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
- Create product manuals in Content Management System (CMS)
- Teamwork, exceptional organization skills, and attention to detail are essential
- Obtain data/draft from engineering sources, edit the information for accuracy and completeness, and incorporate it into procedures
- Taking handoff package from content engineering and completing a CMS integration per the aligned and committed deadlines (both internal and external)
- CMS DITA/XML editing, conversion, translation, and incorporating media to create a publication
- Attend and contribute to content team meetings and provide status and plan for future deliverables
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in one of the following fields of study:
Technical Writing, English, Communications, or Journalism -
Note: A different degree (for example, an Engineering degree) is acceptable but excellent writing skills are required.
- (Bachelor of Engineer (Mechanical / Mechatronics/ Electrical) with 2 Yrs. Exp. In Technical Writing)
- Strong English language skills (This is a MUST have.)
- Work experience in MS Word, MS Excel, SnagIt or equivalent software tool & Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent editing and writing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skill
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good communication and presentation skills

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
