Job Responsibilities

Lam Research International Sdn. Bhd. (“Lam”) is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Global Legal Services team, to be based in Penang, Malaysia.  This person will be tasked with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts for Lam in support of the company’s procurement and other functions, building and maintaining the contract management system clause library. 

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts relating to purchasing services, software licensing, subscriptions, equipment, confidentiality, data security and other common areas on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and assist in developing standardized contract templates, clause library, playbooks and internal knowledge management resources.
     
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from other business units on implementation, training and compliance with respect to contract review and approval processes.
  • Partner with the wider Lam Legal team, such as Legal Counsels, Contracts Specialists and Ethics & Compliance located globally as part of contract review and approval processes. 
  • Be a trusted business partner providing timely, thoughtful and helpful responses to requests from internal clients.
  • Counsel internal clients regarding company policies, legal issues, mitigation and risk tolerance.
  • Direct reporting line to Sr. Manager, Corporate Counsel (MY) and strong dotted line to Director, Legal – Global Operations (US).

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience (practice + in-house experience preferred), including demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, preferably in a large, multinational, high-tech company.
  • Demonstrated understanding and strong working knowledge of common contractual issues associated with commercial agreements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, resourceful, meticulous and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous demands from multiple stakeholders under time pressure, and to re-order priorities on short notice.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience interacting with business people and Executives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (preferably including SharePoint), and work technology savviness. 
  • Work hard and be nice while exercising influence and authority as appropriate; must play well with others. A good sense of humor will certainly help

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Called to the Malaysia/Singapore Bar.
  • Experience developing standardized contract templates and playbooks preferred.
  • Experience with DocuSign Contract Management Solution, Seal AI engine or comparable contract lifecycle management tools.
  • Work experience at publicly traded high tech multinationals/companies, including experience interacting with engineers or other technologists, is highly desirable.
  • English and Bahasa Malaysia, a must. Korean, Japanese or Mandarin language skill(s), a plus.
