Production Test Technician 4

Job Responsibilities

In addition to regular functions, Test Tech 4s also prepare technical reports, summarize findings related to technical problems experienced while testing and troubleshooting circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. They may serve as primary trainers for other technicians on specific job functions and assist in identifying deficiencies in processes/procedures.

Production Test Technician 4s perform all functions and responsibilities of a Test Technician 3, plus the following:

  • Perform leadership/supervisory tasks when requested by taking on responsibilities including troubleshoot with Engineers, follow/fix complex issues on products, delegate tasks and prioritizing work
  • Understand implications of and participate in basic to semi-complex projects using considerable judgment creatively and effectively and make recommendations for solutions
  • Install components/hardware by referring to drawings/Cell Fusion procedures, identify required parts and utilizing correct hand tools/fixtures, and escalate non-conforming parts/procedures as needed
  • Refer to instructions, diagrams, schematics and templates to inspect/position/assemble parts for acceptance and correct or escalate as required; communicate issues with leads and supervisors
  • Set up specialized equipment (leak checker, etc.) by gathering required fixtures; perform leak checks by utilizing appropriate equipment and procedures; verify check completed
  • Find tool information and level specific tool sets by utilizing various SAP commands and leveling equipment
  • Understand/Report/ Document/Review/ tool status by listening/asking questions during verbal pass down, and referencing previous Logs for issues/progress, while providing suggestions for next logical steps and using proper escalation path
  • Create detailed MFG tasks and Indicate they are complete by utilizing I-marking, SQIP marks, and use of Swagelok go/no go gauges (TUA)
  • Verify operations that need to be completed by using Cell Fusion traceability and signing off when operation is complete
  • Review/Perform product (cross-over if applicable) audits for open issues; escalate back to Assembly to close out incomplete tasks

Other Job Responsibilities

Safety Protocol:

  • Complete all required safety training
  • Follow safe work practices by lifting no more than 35 pounds, using ergonomic pads, stretching when needed, etc.
  • Adhere to personal/ and product safety guidelines by:
    • utilizing appropriate PPE following clean room procedures
    • following Lockout Tagout policies and procedures (LOTO and ZEST)
    • Utilizing fixtures (lift hoists, lift track, gantry cranes, lifting tool) to aid in the assembly of tools
  • Perform Risk Management by Walking Around (RMBWA) inspections and document, correct and/or escalate safety issues/hazards to appropriate individuals/departments
  • Respond directly and quickly to unsafe practices; escalate to next level manager (safety representative, lead, supervisor, manager); and escalate any unresolved issues (incorrect use of hoist, poor placement of tools/cords/ladders, etc., not using cones or barriers, PPE misuse)

Communication:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others through telephone, or in written form
  • Timely communicate verbally and in writing to appropriate managers/ individuals/ groups/locations to:
    • ensure workflow and keep to the production schedule.
    • identify production issues.
    • suggest continuous improvements.
    • give system status during shift pass downs.
    • Actively participate in meetings and training
  • Consistently exhibit behaviors that align with Lam’s core values
  • Work as part of a cohesive team to ensure that workflow and production schedules are maintained

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in electronics or related field required and/or equivalent military experience that includes electronics, such as avionics technician
  • 4-6 years of semiconductor capital equipment industry
  • Work 12-plus hour shifts in fast paced and time-sensitive environment
    • Squat, kneel, walk, climb, stand and operate in ergonomically- challenging positions for over 50% of time
    • Lift 35 pounds
    • Perform repetitive motions using hands and various hand tools
  • Distinguish between colors for wire identification
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Flexible and responsive to changing priorities (e.g. rework, overtime and limited travel to other Lam/customer facilities, etc.)
