Position is for a high travel (70-80% possible), highly educated, eager to learn individual with a solid electrical/mechanical aptitude as an entry level Field Service Engineer.  Assignments will include all aspects of Field Service such as diagnosing, troubleshooting and repair as well as installation support, sustaining support of Lam Semiconductor equipment.  This position will require international travel.


Essential Job Functions


The Engineer performs on-site service and repair of LAM Etch, Clean, or Deposition semiconductor processing equipment in a Clean Room environment at a customer site.  This entails the following:


  • Provide preventative maintenance of equipment and attends to equipment issues
  • Order and replace defective units, components, or parts
  • Install and/or relocate equipment, and conduct associated start-up of newly installed systems
  • Perform field modification and updates, as per Engineering Change Notifications
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate the root cause and correct the issue, to minimize downtime or system interruptions and eliminate equipment malfunctions
  • Identify corrective actions; escalate issues for prompt resolution
  • Respond to emergency calls as required
  • Maintain records and reports
  • Remain current on equipment/tools through appropriate training, manuals, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate logs, service records, part usage documentation, and other management reports
  • May travel based on assignment up to 80%




  • Associates degree in electronics, engineer or other applicable field. (Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technology preferred).  Previous experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment, repair and/or installation of company equipment and company procedures may qualify.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally team lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
  • Ability to work in constrictive clean room attire, wearing appropriate personal protective safety equipment as required, and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work rapidly for long periods of time when needed, including routinely bending, stooping, reaching, walking, and standing in one location
  • Read, comprehend and use written materials.
