Responsible for all aspects of Product and Applications Engineering for Metryx Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Lam Research Corp. based in Bristol, England.


Provides technical leadership for product roadmap development, engineering development projects, and customer application penetration and defense activities for stand-alone mass metrology systems produced by Metryx. Leads and grows a team of applications, hardware, and software engineers based both in the UK and abroad. Provides oversight for the engineering team as they design, execute, and analyze well-defined experiments pertaining to the development of new use cases and/or applications. Collaborates with key suppliers and both internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure high design quality of products. Collborates with internal and external product support organizations to solve customer technical problems quickly and permanently. Collborates with internal and external sales and marketing representatives to devise and execute strategies for increasing adoption of Metryx products at key customer sites. Collaborates effectively with customers in a way that grows trust and adoption of Metryx products. Ensures products conform to all applicable product safety standards.


Minimum Education:

PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering preferred.


Valuable background:

- Semiconductor processing (applications, process and/or hardware engineering of Processing and/or Metrology equipment)

- System engineering experience with optical and electrical sensors, plasma diagnostics, process control knowledge, wafer handling systems, robotics

- Engineering systems (eCAD, PLM) and Engineering Quality Control processes (ECR/ECN, DFx)

- Familiarity with mathematical and statistical data analysis techniques: Matlab,  C++

- Experience designing systems to semiconductor industry safety standards (SEMI S2)

- Experience and/or familairty with heat transfer and heat transfer modeling


Minimum Experience:

10+ years experience in the semiconductor industry or relevant PhD work.  Must have demonstrated analytic capabilities for designing and executing test plans analytically and experimentally. Must possess excellent communication and/or customer management skills and demonstrated technical problem solving experience. Fab experience, semiconductor equipment, plasma physics or process control experience are all positive additional criteria for consideration


Travel Requirement:

International travel required to parent company headquarters (US - CA), key suppliers (EU, US, Asia), and key customers (US, Asia). Estimated travel requirement ~1.5 wk/mo.
