We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

Throughout the year Lam Research, can help students with study backgrounds in physics, chemistry, software, mechanical or electrical engineering example roles/internships:

• Process engineer, hands-on work in the lab operating/developing processes on our Pulse Laser Deposition equipment or
• Engineering development (Software/mechanical), part of the team developing the newest PLD modules to push our technology forward

Type of work: laboratory, cleanroom work, computer work; 

Length of internship: 3-6 months

What You’ll Do

Duties include, but are not restricted to 

• The intern will need to leverage their knowledge of 5S, Lean Six Sigma, PSDM (Problem Solving & Decision Making), and project management methodologies. 
• Apply engineering knowledge to optimize processes, systems, and organizations
• Work with project lead to develop, implement, and drive continuous improvement of lab processes and systems in a cross-functional environment
• Coordinate testing and collection of lab user feedback on system usability and performance
• Analyze data and create metrics for lab process or system key performance indicators 
• Present project updates in leadership, cross-functional team, and internship meetings

Who We’re Looking For

• Physics, chemistry, nanotechnology, software, mechanical or electrical engineering major pursuing Bachelor or Master of Science degree
• 5S methodology knowledge and experience
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge and experience
• Fast learner and highly motivated individual  
• Team player with good communication skills
• Good presentation and analytical skills
• Proactive, inquisitive, and not afraid to find answers
• Data and team driven with a “Let’s Prove It” mindset

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
