Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities

The goal of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide support for the PLD technology development. Focus of the engineer is on the Mechanical elements and system development.  He oversees the synergy between the various disciplines and is able to make well-founded choices within this. The Mechanical Engineer is part of the Mechanical & System Engineering team, responsible for developing the next generation of PLD deposition equipment. The Mechanical Engineer is part of project team(s) and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Other Job Responsibilities

• Lead conceptualization, modeling, analysis, documentation, and test/validation of semiconductor chamber hardware.  
• Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives.
• Ensure documentation is consistent with SEMI standards, Lam standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.).
• May design parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, and plastics; often incorporating advanced coating/plating. 
• May develop and execute test plans that generate characterization data to understand and validate the performance of the design.
• Develop and present reports/presentations that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation. 
• Collaborate with international cross-functional teams to ensure hardware designs meet overall product objectives. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 0-1 years of relevant work experience; or
• Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience; or
• Mechanical Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience
• 3D CAD experience (ProE/Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Inventor) is required, Creo preferred.
• English fluency
• Excellent oral and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency with modeling and assemblies in PTC Creo CAD system.
• Proficient with thermal and structural analysis (Ansys or Comsol is a plus).
• Experience with CFD flow simulation for gas flow in vacuum systems.
• Prior experience developing semiconductor capital equipment.
• Hands on, passionate about hardware development.
