The Group You’ll Be A Part Of

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The Impact You’ll Make

As a Product Manager at Lam, you play a crucial role in defining the strategy, roadmap, and features of the product. You are both strategic and tactical. You will span the entire product life cycle, from definition and planning to production release, upgrades, and end-of-life. Your leadership skills will be vital in ensuring cross-functional collaboration across different departments to drive the success of the portfolio of products. With your expertise in both business and technical domains, you’ll bring the product vision to life for Lam and our customers.

What You'll Do

  • Designs, develops and manages activities for a specific product or group of products from the beginning to the end: product definition and planning through production, release, and end of product-life
  • Technical counseling of internal teams on product design and configuration to accommodate customer requirements
  • Serves as the central resource for PLD equipment with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution
  • Leads internal meetings and workshops with the product ownership-team and keeps the management informed about the results 
  • Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line

Product Roadmap / Strategy / Vision​

  • Collect & understand customer needs and Lam business objectives to align product development strategy and program roadmap across etch products.​
  • Facilitate roundtable reviews of market roadmap and technology development resulting in revisions of product strategy, program roadmap, and organizational priorities PLD products.​
  • Align and author the program Vision, setting cost objectives and program deliverables aligned with marketing requirements and product strategy. Holds team members accountable to the aligned vision deliverables throughout the Product Development & Release process.​
  • Define and manage implementation strategy for product enhancements, new options, and fixes across product lines.​
  • Communicate via Plan of Record to the development team, operations, and customer accounts to align implementation of product changes.​
  • Accountable for release of features that meets performance targets, is available in manufacturing with predictable lead time and cost, is supportable in the field with proper documentation and training, with an aligned roadmap.

What You’ll Do

Product Lifecycle Management​

  • Prioritize programs to allocate resources aligned with overall organizational objectives.​
  • Define and communicate the product offered for sale through the Product Option Architecture (POA) system and align product changes with other Product Managers​
  • Manage unreleased product proliferation: capture and communicate early forecasts and shipment plans; obtain financial approvals to drive unreleased material; and approve Critical Design Reviews; align and approve new part spares inventory.​
  • Define & manage ECOGS to support implementation of issue resolution in the field. Coordinate and monitor execution of mandatory retrofit and supplier quality excursion recovery programs.​
  • Review, disposition and prioritize problem reports, change orders and Non-Standard Requests from customers; provide supporting rationale and alternatives to justify decisions and determine pricing.​
  • Communicate across Lam and with customer known product issues, the impact to ongoing operations/production and Plan of Record. Leads Cross Functional Teams as necessary, coordinating operations and development groups, to mitigate the customer production impacts when scarce resources are available.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Good Knowledge of Semiconductor PVD/PLD Processing Equipment Technology
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement applying scientific and technical knowledge
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication & presentation skills in English
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to lead and influence cross functional teams
  • Willingness to travel (internationally) is required

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
