The Challenge

The Communications function in Lam’s Office of the CTO (OCTO) is chartered with building and supporting the internal and external communications for the company’s CTO, his leadership team, and Lam’s 3,000-person technical community.

In this position, Lam is seeking a seasoned communications professional who is comfortable with the entire communication process - from platform and strategy development to execution and executive counsel. This individual will play a highly visible role creating and implementing strategic communication plans for the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and his organization. He/she will have an opportunity to shape the narrative for Lam’s new Technology Vision in a way that influences and drives participation in key activities for employees, customers, partners and other stakeholders. Based in Fremont, California, this individual will work closely with many different groups to deliver communications across a variety of online and offline channels. Reporting to the Managing Director of Innovation & Strategy for the Office of the CTO, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance Lam’s reputation with a diverse set of critical audiences.  

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a robust communications plan for Lam’s new Technology Vision. Ensure plan delivers desired outcomes and contributes to corporate technical learning while meeting a variety of business objectives.
  • Refine internal communication vehicles, including the new OCTO intranet site, team meetings, seminars series and digital displays. Develop new channels to engage the technical community across the company.
  • Build the CTO’s executive voice and visual “brand” as a thought leader and technology visionary.
  • Write regular stories, interviews, thought pieces, news bites and presentations for the OCTO website that engage and inform employees about all aspects of both Tech Vision and the OCTO organization
  • Manage events of different sizes, audiences and outcomes. From a 500-person technology conference, to a small-scale symposium with world-class professors and students, stay on top of all the details required to lead a great experience for all participants
  • Launch and manage global communication campaigns around key programs and processes that contribute to the Technology Vision – Intrapreneurship, learning & development, and other programs as they are developed.
  • Prepare compelling presentations for internal and external audiences that contain high-quality content, and demonstrate expert understanding of complex technologies and audience relevancy.
  • Help prepare briefing materials for customer meetings, executive briefings, industry events, and media/analyst meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all content is the highest quality, creative and compelling, and aligned and integrated with the appropriate corporate, cross-functional, and functional messages. Be comfortable with hands-on production of final deliverables to ensure consistency, creativity and quality consistent with Lam’s brand.
  • Conduct measurement, analysis and reporting of results for communications plans, events and campaigns. Make recommendations for ongoing improvements and modifications according to results and feedback.
  • Provide support for the CTO’s first-level direct reports, primarily supporting high-priority internal organizational communication needs.
  • Collaborate with corporate communications to reach influential media and industry analysts and support external social media channels.
  • Collaborate with the company’s PR, employee communications, executive communications, GIS, legal, HR, sales, event, video and graphic design teams, to deliver results and ensure alignment of messages across businesses and disciplines.

 

What You Need to Succeed

  • BA/BS in communications, public relations, marketing or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • More than ten years of experience in internal communications, executive communications or related field. Some corporate experience essential.
  • Comfortable with very advanced technical topics and stakeholders, fluency in semiconductor manufacturing a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with executives and produce compelling narratives and effective communications deliverables that meet or exceed goals within deadlines.
  • A solid track record in developing message platforms and implementing communications campaigns that require executive and corporate visibility.
  • Event leadership and hands-on management skills, including content, logistics, stakeholder management and alignment across a variety of stakeholder groups
  • Ability to identify, develop and tell a great story across multiple mediums, especially intranet sites and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Excellent writing, editing and presentation development skills as demonstrated by examples of previous work. Strength in both verbal and visual thinking highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; Ability to manage programs from concept to completion flawlessly, working with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ability to lead dynamic projects and campaigns up, down and across the company.
  • Serious attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strength in ability to work with a variety of global cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated individual, highly collaborative and great attitude.
