The dynamic Global Learning and Organizational Development team at Lam Research accelerates the capabilities of the company by creating a world-class, high-impact learning organization and delivering enterprise-level solutions and results across business units and functions.  


Successful candidates for Director of Global Learning will bring a keen understanding of adult learning and a track record of designing and delivering learning programs which lead to new knowledge, new behaviors, and significant positive results for the organization. In addition, strong candidates will have demonstrated success in implementing a global strategy in learning and development, by aligning global team members, optimizing resources, setting and communicating guidelines, and focusing on results.  Our ideal candidate will be creative, have strong knowledge of both content and instructional design, the use of technology-enhanced learning, and the newest thinking on adult learning/neuroscience.  Important is effectiveness in bringing insights to organizational needs and using metrics to measure results.  


The Director of Global Learning will deliver the foundational enterprise-level learning solutions with excellence, and establish, communicate, and train company-wide standards and guidelines for vendor management, budgeting, needs assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation.  Also important is the ability to create and implement training programs for associates, managers, trainers and others (participating in and conducting needs analysis, designing skills development classes, cross-training). In addition, demonstrated results in implementing and leveraging a Learning Management System to deliver learning solutions globally is key.  

As a proactive partner to the learning and development team across regions and businesses, the Director of Global Learning will ensure that the work of the team and individuals is continually aligned to meet business needs on all levels – team, local, regional, functional and/or global.  


Desired skills and qualifications include: 

  • Expertise in optimizing learning opportunities, course design and delivery, and adult learning
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Executive presence and effective presentation, listening, and persuasion skills combined with strong analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to influence others without authority
  • Track record to ensure and drive best practices standardization across all businesses, regions, and sites
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing needs and circumstances
  • Ability to prioritize, manage and complete projects with tight deadlines
  • Desire to thrive in a dynamic, growing environment
  • Resume that shows steady progression in Training/Learning Management/Operations for the last 10+ years
  • Master’s Degree in a related field

A core member of the Global Learning and Organizational Development team, the Director of Organizational Design and Change will collaborate with the Global L & OD team, HR partners, and business leaders to increase our effectiveness and momentum globally.  Some specific responsibilities include:  Assessing the current state of Global L & D; implement standard guidelines for learning initiatives; optimize delivery of existing programs and certifications; work collaboratively to design and deliver new certifications in partnership with businesses and regions; evaluate future needs and work independently, or as part of a team, to create and/or assist with the design and development of a prioritized, future-state roadmap for learning, including business case and ROI; develop utilization goals and tools to measure utilization; create and execute communication and training plans and tools; implement new LMS; present and refine recommendations with executive leadership and stakeholders.  Approximately 25-50% regional and global travel required.
