The Senior EHS Engineer, supporting Lam’s Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) function, assures compliance with regulatory requirements and Global EH&S policies, programs, and procedures for construction, facilities, tool install/de-install, and related activities. The individual may serve as a technical resource to provide guidance on to ensure activities are aligned with Lam EHS and regulatory requirements. Activities include partnering and building trust to establish working relationships with operations, contractors and consultants to develop a proactive safety culture, leading incident investigations, and ensuring EHS support is available and implemented on GWS Projects worldwide.

Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for environmental, health and safety (EHS) performance related to Lam’s Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) function worldwide.
  • Provide senior GWS management guidance and coaching to ensure actions and business practices are in alignment with Lam EHS strategies and objectives.
  • Ensure GWS compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to EHS, and handle all contact with appropriate agencies.
  • Ensure all GWS construction, renovation and maintenance projects meet the requirements of Lam’s global EHS standards, contractor EHS program, and Contractor EHS Handbook.
  • Ensure EHS support is available and implemented on GWS projects worldwide to facilitate safe planning, start-up, construction and commissioning.
  • Assist GWS with the establishment of routine business processes and reporting of EHS objectives, goals, strategies and key performance indices.
  • Participate in Global EHS initiatives as required.
  • Develop and deliver required EHS training and conduct routine audits to ensure global EHS objectives and strategies are working.  Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Use appropriate communications and escalations to inform upper management of all EHS-related incidents.
  • Participate in the development of projects and prevention initiatives as well as participate in incident investigations

  • Ability to apply EHS and regulatory knowledge to business decisions including the development of implementation plans for applicable requirements.
  • Strong ability to manage change relative to EHS aspects associated with people changes, equipment and process changes.
  • Ability to run an effective meeting with focus on problem statement and results.
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional teams to meet project objectives, with a focus on measurable results.
  • Can recognize the need, and effectively escalate in the event of conflict or misalignment threatens the success of a project.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including mastery knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel, word, power-point) skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive message on complex content, in front of peers

 

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science or Engineering required.  Masters degree or related work experience preferred.

  • 10 years of EHS management experience with at least 4 years of semiconductor or construction industry  experience.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, with a strong emphasis in construction and application of OSHA CFR Title 29, Part 1926.. 
  • Knowledge and/or experience in equipment signoff process, installation and startup of equipment and systems including chemical systems, establishment of EHS policies, programs and procedures, behavior-based safety, and incident investigation / root cause analysis.
  • PE, CSP, CIH or other certifications preferred
  • ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 lead auditor status preferred
