Job Responsibilities

  • Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
  • Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
  • Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs.
  • Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC hardware/software, Automated Logic Corp hardware/software, commercial HVAC control hardware/software (Trane, JCI, Delta, ASG), Ignition software program in the application of facility system monitoring and control
  • Responsible for Fremont and Livermore campus controls infrastructure systems
  • Provide controls engineering design review input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects
  • Provide controls engineering construction input and commissioning support for facility infrastructure projects
  • Strong working knowledge of ISA requirements
  • Support as-build documentation of controls system and logic diagrams
  • Maintain load/capacity reports for facility infrastructure systems
  • Perform review and approval of controls and instrumentation requests
  • Drive improvement of infrastructure system performance and up-time
  • Experience with standard operating procedure creation and training skills
  • Experience with energy efficiency improvement projects
  • Work directly with contractors and service providers to ensure delivery of operational results
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis during project design development phase
  • Capital and expensed project financial management and control experience
  • Experience working with insurance provider (FM Global) to ensure reliable facility operation

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with minimum 5 years of semiconductor R&D lab/wafer fab experience in controls and instrumentation

Professional Engineer license recommended
