Job Responsibilities

The candidate is responsible for the overall management of all IT Service Delivery-related activities in the San Francisco Bay Area (Fremont and Livermore campuses). The candidate is local to the Bay Area and is expected to be on campus. The Service Owner sets the strategic direction for the function and manages the direct and matrixed staff’s daily activities and is responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with business leaders as well as IT Service Delivery functions globally and the CIO Staff.

 

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Defines and aligns the strategic direction for the IT services necessary to support all local business operations in the SF Bay Area with corporate or central GIS strategies and roadmaps.
  • Represents all GIS service delivery capability and performance to the senior BU leadership in Fremont and Livermore.
  • Establishes strategic initiatives to drive specific activities in support of the business operations
  • Partners with IT Vendor Management Organization and business leadership in identifying qualified vendors, drafting RFP’s, conducting the competitive bid processes and negotiating contractual relationships.
  • Interacts with various IT functions to ensure the vendor service delivery organizations are effectively meeting the needs of the business units.
  • Establishes and manages financial processes with the Finance organization to minimize financial risk.
  • Identifies, develops and promotes strategic IT infrastructure, applications or service delivery opportunities through coordination of and interaction with IT Senior Leadership and business functions.
  • Establishes and manages a controlled environment that ensures effective and efficient processes.
  • Manages the daily activities of the GIS Bay Area direct and matrixed Service Delivery staff.
  • Manages the staff’s skill development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree focused on Information Systems Technology or Information Systems Management, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.  Equivalent experience will be considered.  Post-Graduate Degree preferred.
  • Ten to fifteen years of experience in information technology or information systems management is preferred.  However, any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform job duties may be considered.
  • Ten years direct staff management and development responsibility
  • Proven engagement with executive management with measurable results
  • Experience in the semi-conductor industry segment, ideally in the Manufacturing and Engineering disciplines
  • IT outsourcing vendor and relationship management experience
  • Proven ability in managing outside service providers, including SLA management and performance measurement
  • Demonstrated Program Management experience at a local and enterprise level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • High attention to detail at all levels of management with the ability to work effectively under high stress conditions while consistently meeting critical deadlines
  • Excellent diplomacy, applying tact and discretion, to develop strong rapport with executives
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a customer service mentality, to produce consistent win-win solutions
  • Effectively multi-task across a multitude of initiatives with the ability to manage and adapt to shifting priorities across multiple customers
  • Sound understanding of financial and accounting disciplines, including budgetary and forecast responsibilities
  • Sound understanding of P&L practices and how these drive business decisions and strategy
  • Knowledge of both Manufacturing and Engineering best practices, ideally in a high-tech environment
  • Excellent management and leadership capabilities
  • Sound knowledge of industry trends and strategies in information technology
  • Broad knowledge of information technology including network, hosting and storage architectures, end-user computing platforms, cloud and on-premise applications, IaaS\PaaS\SaaS, and telecommunications
  • Specific knowledge of information security controls and best practices
  • Broad knowledge and skills in multiple project management disciplines (i.e. Waterfall, Scrum, Agile, etc.)
  • Negotiation skills and business acumen to manage complex terms and conditions of contracts and deals
