Industrial Hygienist/Chemical Safety Specialist

Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop a Lam IH Exposure Assessment and Monitoring Plan to include all occupational health risk factors as well as Management of Change related to new processes and chemistries
  • Assesses work place for occupational health hazards by observing work conditions, assessing records, conducting interviews, perform sampling and monitoring of chemical or physical agents
  • Assist in procedures that establish work practices to ensure effective control measures for
    occupational health hazards
  • Prepares accurate and complete technical reports of survey findings, and provides recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions
  • Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of industrial hygiene and health policies, procedures, business processes and prevention initiatives
  • Develops and delivers required EHS Training
  • Participate in the development of projects and prevention initiatives as well as participate in incident investigations
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, local laws, regulations and requirements
  • Participates in Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives as required


  • Knowledge of methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting and testing samples such as dusts, mists, fumes, vapors, noise, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, cold, and heat stress and biological agents
  • Knowledge of toxicological effects of occupational hazards
  • Skill in the operation and maintenance of a variety of monitoring and testing equipment
  • Ability to exercise judgment on issues affecting human health, environmental impacts, and workplace safety
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating a wide variety of technical data, test results, reports, and plans.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, manage and drive results
  • Ability to run an effective meeting with focus on problem statement and results
  • Cross-functional team leadership to meet project objectives, with a focus on measurable results
  • Can recognize the need, and effectively escalate in the event conflict or misalignment threatens the success of a project.
  • Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
  • Work comfortably with employees and management in a wide variety of circumstances 
  • Exceptional root cause and corrective/preventive action development skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills and demonstrated expertise in a formal problem solving methodology.
  • Microsoft suite (excel, word, power-point) skills.
  • Strong Presentation Skills - demonstrates presentation skills, influence and effectiveness on complex content, in front of peers



  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Has technical experience in the areas of industrial hygiene and safety
  • In-depth knowledge of chemistry and EH&S issues associated with semiconductor industry is a plus
  • 8 years of IH/EHS engineering or related experience with at least 5 years of semiconductor experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering preferred
  • Masters or related work experience is desirable
  • CIH certification desired
