The Impact You’ll Make

As a Laboratory Service Engineer at Lam, you are a pivotal force in maintaining and upgrading equipment in our applications lab. It’s not a typical lab; you’ll be hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration. You'll support innovative equipment by providing installation and documentation, making you an integral part of our technology’s success.

In this role, you will contribute to concept and feasibility hardware to enhance current and develop the next generation of semiconductor equipment for our customers.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our team and support our corporate metrology lab, with a focus on 3D tomography dimensional metrology. You will play a key role in metrology support, application development, and lab management to achieve world-class analytical results.

 

 

  • Sustaining Operations: Support daily activities in a fast-paced lab environment, ensuring continuity of critical metrology functions.
  • Conduct Experiments: Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and provide recommendations. Lead significant metrology projects.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work with cross-functional teams to deliver metrology solutions that meet business goals.
  • Provide Support: Offer timely metrology applications support to internal teams and customers.
  • SPC Monitoring: Assess and track critical metrology assets using SPC methodologies.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster effective teamwork, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Proactive Approach: Take initiative to find innovative solutions and tackle challenges independently.
  • Data Analysis: Compile and analyze test data to guide process development and define process specifications.

Who We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 5+ years of experience; or an Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 7+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory & Semiconductor Experience: Familiarity with cleanroom operations and semiconductor equipment, including surface preparation and analytical techniques.
  • Cleanroom Experience: Hands-on experience with SEM, FIB, e-beam lithography, and photolithography. FIB-SEM experience is highly preferred.
  • SPC & DOE Knowledge: Understanding of SPC and/or DOE methodologies for problem-solving and process optimization.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with teams, customers, and partners.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
  • Statistical Tools: Experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP).
  • Material Science Knowledge: Background in material synthesis and characterization.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working in collaborative environments with diverse teams and partners.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

 

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $31.73 -  $68.27.

 

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
