The Impact You’ll Make

As a Metrology Engineer at Lam Research, you will be one of the key contributors in cutting edge semiconductor processes development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to discover and implement metrology techniques. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of technology that powers electronic devices globally.

Key Responsibilities

*****   On-Site, B-shift: 2pm-10:30pm *****

  • Develop samples preparation techniques with focused ion beam (FIB) as part of the R&D activities.
  • Prepare samples using FIB.
  • Generate, organize, and interpret data, modify recipes and provide 1:1 support to technologists at the highest technical level.
  • Implement and perform SPC methods for periodic evaluation of key metrology assets to ensure that toolsets are operating at optimum performance levels.
  • Communicate with equipment suppliers and vendors.
  • Make recommendations that enhance overall lab performance and workflow.
  • Occasionally may train engineering technicians, other laboratory service engineers, or process engineers.

 

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Operate other metrology equipment including CD-SEM, Review SEM, analytical SEM, optical and x-ray thin film measurement systems (ellipsometry, XRF, XRR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), profilometry, defect inspection systems, and others.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering.
  • Experience working in an academic or professional laboratory setting.
  • Capable of working in a cleanroom environment, wearing personal protective safety equipment, or cleanroom suit.
  • Experience operating electron microscopes and/or dual beam focused ion beams. 
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and industry preferred.
  • Candidate should possess good written and verbal communication skills to work with large internal customer base.
  • Experience in cleaning and recovering delicate high-vacuum equipment is a plus (e.g., disassemble, clean, and rebuild ion guns and other sensitive equipment).
  • Proficiency with MS Excel.

Salary

 

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $70,000.00 -  $155,000.00.

 

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
