The Impact You’ll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves simulation support for design validation, optimization as well as testing and data collection. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

In this role, you will directly contribute to Etch Engineering.

What You’ll Do

• Support the thermal/flow/structural simulation for design validation and optimization.
• Conduct detailed analysis including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability to properly specify designs.
• Experience with a variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and/or advanced coatings.
• Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
• Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high-quality, cost-optimized, and to requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 6+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in Ansys fluids/mechanical, Simcenter 3D and/or other equivalent tools. 
• Experience with 3D design tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, ProE, SolidWorks, and others.
• Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Experience in leading projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
• Familiar with simulation DOEs and UDF- user define function package.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
