The Impact You’ll Make

This open position is for a Hardware/Mechanical Manager working in the deposition Hardware Product Development Group.

This HW group develops, releases, and supports the activities on the new deposition Products - from inception of ideas to in-house qualification to support in the field. The HW group members drive design innovation, HW, process validation, reliability to achieve product vision objectives. The team also works actively with supply chain team to meet the cost targets for the tool.

 Developing and supporting this tool requires understanding and use of multidisciplinary engineering to innovate on the intersection of Mechanical, Chemistry and Material Science Engineering. We review process and customer requirements to define engineering specifications for systems and subsystems.   We handle the full life cycle from development, through product release while supporting customer escalations and manufacturing team to enable on time shipment of tools. We coordinate design reviews, risk assessments, with cross functional teams to ensure successful product release. We compile and evaluate test data using rigorous statistical methods to determine appropriate hardware limitations and assesses risk of field failure according to customer process conditions.

What You’ll Do

You will be one of two managers, each with specific product focus, reporting to the Sr Manager.  You will lead a team of 5-6 Mechanical engineers in support of a wide variety of projects on all of aspects for current and next generation applications at all major customers. You will manage priorities through the Engineering Priority Lists while using additional of the Product Engineers from our India Engineering team. Would also be responsible for supporting the functioning of the 4-5 lab tools. Depending on overall group priorities you may support other HW group managers.

As a manager, you will train, mentor, and develop your team to improve their technical capabilities, communication skills, and help them become more T-shaped.  You will create development plans for each employee tied to their yearly compensation planning.  To help the group learn, efficiently share knowledge, and ramp up their effectiveness, you will create and or optimize organizational systems and establish best practices for innovating solutions, testing, and data analysis.  As a working manager, you will remain as the Technical Owner for some projects as well.

Who We’re Looking For

Solid Deposition or Etch hardware, process and or productivity development background and track record of success

Master’s degree in a field of Mechanical Engineering, materials science or equivalent experience in areas such as complex hardware engineering, device fabrication or process module design.  A Ph.D. is a plus but not required.

Years of related experience in wafer process equipment including acting as a technical owner for large scale projects, having dotted line reports, working closely with suppliers to develop solutions and hardware development.

History of excellent verbal and written communication.  Ability to prepare and present both concise Executive-style summaries and long form technical deep dive presentations to convey problems statements and opportunities, trade-off options, and supporting evidence to guide decision making.

Experienced in driving decision making by creating a clear and concise story backed with data, building a coalition, and persuading management to follow the team’s recommendation.

Strong initiative with a willingness to take ownership and drive a project to completion coupled with strong process and systemic thinking capabilities

Ability to develop and execute plans, consistently deliver expected business results and work effectively in a changing environment sometimes filled with ambiguity.

Salary

 

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $117 - $259K.

 

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
