Job Responsibilities
- Participate in the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and test/validation of hardware associated with new semiconductor plasma etch equipment
- Design parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/platings. Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives
- Documentation to be consistent with ANSI, SEMI, and Lam Standards, as well as best known methods for GD&T; accordingly, knowledge and demonstrated ability to properly utilize them is highly desirable
- Perform analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, stress, fluid/gas dynamics and manufacturability
- Develop and execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design
- Develop and present reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews

- Assist in providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management
- Directly support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication
- Collaborate with cross functional team to ensure hardware designs meet overall product objectives
Other Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing professional mechanical engineering research, design, development, modification, and evaluation in support of the company's complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems, and their mechanical components
- Determine design approaches and parameters
- Review and evaluate designs or processes
- Generate or direct layout/design activities and verify accuracy of final documentation
- Analyze and select components and equipment, as well as evaluate supplier capabilities
- Design and conduct independent experiments or tests
- Define problems and objectives, develop approach, analyze results and provide recommendations
- Direct implementation of required changes or modifications, plan, conduct, and technically direct moderately complex projects
- Write and analyze Action Requests/Equipment Change Notices
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree with 5 years’ experience; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience
- Extremely knowledgeable using 3D CAD tools such as ProE, NX, etc. is required
- Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities
- Strong skills and experiences in problem solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management
- Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
- Good communication skills, ability to work well with other teams to meet production goals
- Strong design background coupled with solid engineering skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Semiconductor industry experience is not required, but a plus
- CAD (NX and Inventor)
