The Impact You’ll Make
Manufacturing Engineering Manager within Semi Mechatronics Products (SMP), a Lam Research company, located in Fremont, CA.
SMP manufactures critical mechatronics machined parts and assemblies and supports their transfer within Lam’s supply chain.
SMP reports into the Global Product Engineering - Mechatronics group who is responsible for VORTEX® wafer handling robots, process chamber mechanisms, and METIUS® smart devices.
As SMP’s Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will make a significant impact across multiple Lam product groups in quality, cost, and our ability to meet forecasted growth.
What You’ll Do
You will lead a team to develop, implement and maintain the manufacturing methods, processes and operations for mechatronics new product introductions along with existing critical or IP sensitive mechatronics assemblies.
You will have the opportunity to work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in product design and manufacturing.
Your group will ensure effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs.
- Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Continuous improvement to systems to maintain reports and record keeping of company products.
- Work with Lam Mechatronics Engineering in resolving product issues found during assembly and test.
- Participate and develop BV and BQ prior to HVM launch readiness.
- Drive the improvement of the manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery.
- Drive Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis on manufacturing escalations, including resolving issues with SMP suppliers.
- Interfaces with manufacturing and design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
- Determines time standards and makes recommendations for fixturing and process requirements of new product lines.
- Designs and procures manufacturing fixtures.
- Reviews new designs for manufacturability and makes recommendations to design engineering on manufacturability (DFMA) improvements.
- Need to exhibit excellent problem-solving skills: defining the problem, identifying objectives, assessing risk, developing approach, analyzing results and providing recommendations.
- Conduct effective supplier visits in evaluating and managing new and existing suppliers.
- Direct and independently manage manufacturing process/quality implementation of required changes and modifications at suppliers.
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other applicable technical discipline and > 10 years of related experience.
- Experience in the semi-conductor equipment manufacturing industry
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance.
- Highly proficient at using hand and power tools.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
Salary
CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $117,000.00 - $259,000.00.
The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
