Job Responsibilities

A Product Engineer 3 will own technical and professional support to projects emphasizing new and unreleased products while assisting more senior engineers in research and product development.

  • Design and execute experimental test plans on lab equipment on-site, gather and analyze data, and evaluate against success criteria to validate product performance.

  • Coordinate with design/system engineers in program team to troubleshoot product issues during development and testing.

  • Document testing results in reports and presentations, create and/or update end user technical documentation, products specifications, and supplier procedures.

  • Present on project status and final engineering results in various settings including business organization level review meetings.

  • Coordinate offsite testing execution at Lam Research customers or vendors for evaluation of new design, material or coating/finish method.

  • Provide engineering support for supplier issues by dispositioning material, offering technical guidance, and driving root cause/corrective action determination.

  • Provide engineering support for resolving customer escalations related to product issues.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; or
MS degree with of 2+ years applicable experience in manufacturing processes and design, preferably in the semiconductor industry preferred

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams, as well as internal and external partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated capability for hands-on equipment operation, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word software.
  • Fluent in English language, both writing and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in materials development and characterization.

  • Experience with wafer metrology equipment such as SEM, CDSEM, Ellipsometry, and Optical Defect Inspection.

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), statistical analysis and hypothesis tests.

  • Understanding of risk identification and mitigation process, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), problem solving and Root Cause-Corrective Action (RCCA) methodology.

  • Knowledge of plasma chamber equipment subsystems and operating principles.

  • Knowledge of plasma processing chemistries, as well as fundamental plasma physics and RF power delivery.

  • Knowledge of semiconductor device manufacturing, including common operations such as lithography, wet and dry etching, deposition, electroplating, and CMP.
