Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing professional metrology applications development and for providing support and ownership within key areas of the corporate metrology lab (CD-SEM; Review SEM; analytical SEM; optical and x-ray thin film and CD measurement systems (ellipsometry, XRF, XRR); and other metrologies depending on need, inclination, and expertise).
  • Closely interface with a wide array of process technologists at the highest technical level to deliver world-class metrology solutions and analytical results that are aligned with requirements. Own workflows (direct satisfaction of support requests), develop metrology capabilities and perform regular evaluation and tracking of key metrology assets using SPC methods.
  • Design and conduct independent experiments and tests as needed. Define problems and objectives, develop approach, analyze results and provide recommendations. Plan, conduct and direct complex projects or major phases of significant metrology lab development projects.
  • Utilize the technical expertise you are recognized for within the industry to further the capabilities and reduce the time needed to generate end-customer solutions within Lam.
  • Travel between key Lam Research North American development lab sites at a ~10% rate expected for this role.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics; or
  • M.S with 3+ years of relevant work experience; or
  • B.S with 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with working in a cleanroom laboratory.
  • Experience in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
  • Interest in advanced technology and an on-going desire to learn.
  • In-dept understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Experience in Python, Matlab, Mathematica, or Origin.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.
  • Collaboration/ Matrix environment mindset.
