Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have an excellent opportunity to exert broad influence and direct contribution to the product engineering processes used in the development and manufacture of Wafer Fabrication Equipment (WFE) used by every leading chip maker in the world. This equipment, designed and built by Lam Research, enables plasma etching, deposition, and wafer cleaning technologies capable of atomic-layer precision. To ensure the highest operational reliability, the Lam Tool Control System requires RF power generators, matches, distribution systems, and filters. These electrical components are supplied to Lam by a worldwide network of highly technical suppliers and contract manufacturers who are managed and guided by the RF Power Group of Lam’s SQAD Engineering organization.
- This is a Sr. Product Engineering position in the RF Power Group of Supplier Quality Assessment & Development (SQAD) Engineering at Lam Research. Lam RF Power SQAD is responsible for innovation and problem solving in RF Power Systems manufacturing, test, quality, & supplier assessment and development.
- This specific position will be based either in Tualatin, OR or Fremont, CA, to partner with Lam's R&D Engineers and our suppliers to productize novel RF sources to manufacturing, working on leading-edge equipment for the production of the most advanced chips in the world.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8 years' experience with RF and PCBA Design, and IC knowledge (hands-on expertise)
- Apply skills and experience with semiconductor manufacturing and equipment to technical and quality problems encountered in the product life cycle with special attention to new product introduction of novel RF designs
- Understand RF testing, and Test Fixture management is key: proper testing and validation of an RF device is essential for successful repeatable deployment, and thus partnering with our design team and the suppliers to design, implement and maintain state-of-the-art test fixtures is fundamental to success. Understanding test qualification, gauge studies, SPC management plan, preventative maintenance, etc. are important for the role
- Apply Product and Systems Engineering approaches to understand and resolve problems with equipment functionality, component quality and reliability, design and application margin, and in supplier quality systems
- Travel to Lam and Lam supplier manufacturing locations to conduct effective situation assessments, audits and investigations and Apply findings to implement systematic and lasting improvements to product and process (Travel expected to be <20%)
- Apply experience with industrial Quality Systems, Engineering Design & Documentation, Product Qualification, Change (EC) Processes and Problem Solving to issues occurring in product and component life cycles
- Perform Program/Project and Supplier Management roles with emphasis on problem-solving analysis and improvements in manufacturing and test processes. Definition, review and improvement of Supplier’s Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA), Supplier’s Quality Systems and Processes of Record (POR)
