This position is part of the Supplier Materials & Technology (SMT) organization.  SMT is an organization that is innovative in manufacturing technology, materials and supply chain design.  In this position, you, as a supplier engineer, will play a vital role with Machining and Fabrication supplier development.  You will have the opportunity to work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in product design and manufacturing throughout the supply chain.

 

Candidate should be a result-driven, self-starter possessing strong interpersonal skills with a strong focus on supporting customers.  This individual should also possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to changing priorities and to work independently in a close-knit team setting.

 

Job Details:

  • Develops suppliers to meet Lam's technical, manufacturing, and quality expectations
  • Drive the improvement of the suppliers’ quality and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery
  • Provides expertise in manufacturing processes for metal components (CNC machining, welding, brazing, heat treating,  etc)
  • Interfaces with design engineering to understand performance requirements and set up processes with suppliers to ensure requirements are met and quality is maintained
  • Works with Lam Product Group Engineering organizations and provides Design-for-Manufacturing inputs on critical parts
  • Take lead in problem solving activities and drive root cause and corrective actions with suppliers
  • Coordinate and support investigation of key quality defects of components from the customers and/or field service team to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement 
  • Collaborate on the continuous development of supply base through close teamwork with product management, global product group, and supplier business managers
  • Leads, and is personally accountable for, high profile project timelines and milestones.
  • Continuously working on process improvement and developing Best Known Methods

 

Qualifications

  • Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, including experience in the areas of mechanical and materials engineering
  • Proven ability to assess risk, develop mitigation plans, and execute
  • Resilient and adaptable to a fast changing environment
  • Highly effective verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Application of 8D problem solving methodology
  • Experience in process development and quality management
  • Working knowledge of statistical (SPC, DOE, variance analysis), analytical (troubleshooting, FEA, modeling), and mathematical tools and software to apply process development and manufacturing control of high value components
  • Strong project management, organizational and communication skills within organization and outside suppliers
  • Ability to travel within US and internationally 20% of time

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from accredited University a must
  • Advanced degree (including Master or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering or Material Sciences from accredited University preferred
