This position is part of the Supplier Materials & Technology (SMT) organization.  SMT is an organization that is innovative in manufacturing technology, materials and supply chain design.  In this position, you, as a Sr. Mgr, Engineering will successfully mentor and develop a team of supplier engineers in charge of highly critical components in Lam systems within SMT.  You will work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop fabrication technologies for Lam metal products and drive technology roadmap and cut in strategy with design engineering. Commodities that fall into responsibility of this individual are showerheads and pedestals.


Job Duties:

  • Mentor and develop team members, both in US Lam offices and global Lam locations worldwide (Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, India)
  • Strategically align with and manage stakeholders within Lam (SBMs, PG engineering, manufacturing)
  • Lead assessment of new manufacturing technologies for successful incorporation into Lam products.
  • Ensure Lam quality metric targets are being consistently met
  • Develop and deploy business processes for supplier quality management to allow scalable growth of Lam business
  • Upgrade the Lam fabrication suppliers to meet Lam standards and then to be best in class
  • Develop new and improved fabrication technologies for Lam metal products and drive technology roadmap and cut in strategy with design engineering
  • Be the Lam subject matter expert in various metal fabrication, joining technologies, and raw material discussions.
  • Work with Lam Product Group Engineering organizations in development and release of new metal fabricated products to Lam Research.
  • Coordinate and support investigation of key quality defects of components from the customers and/or field service team to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement 
  • Drive the improvement of the suppliers’ quality and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery
  • Act as technical lead for cross functional projects to include POR development and Production Readiness Review
  • Audit and document supply base performance on critical process of records and overall quality management systems
  • Collaborate on the continuous development of supply base through close teamwork with product management, global product group, and supplier business managers
  • Leads, and is accountable for, high profile project timelines and milestones.
  • Continuously working on process improvement and developing Best Known Methods
  • Perform Standardized Supplier Quality Audits and administer Supplier Quality Scorecard for existing suppliers to promote continuous improvement.
  • Drive Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis on factory and customer escalations



  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from accredited University a must
  • Advanced degree (including Ph.D. or Master) in Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences from accredited University preferred
  • Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, including experience in the areas of mechanical and chemical engineering
  • Strong demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Solid understanding of statistical process control and basic statistical analysis used in production setting
  • Solid understanding of equipment and component manufacturing processes
  • Experience in supplier process development & quality management
  • Understanding of failure analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
  • Systems engineering and integration and customer fab knowledge
  • Solid understanding of various problem-solving methodologies to include 8-D/5 why
  • Project Management / Team Lead experience
  • At least 10 years of working in the Semiconductor Equipment Industry
  • Experience with working with global suppliers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with ability to understand and customize messaging based on intended audience
  • Attentions to the details and yet ability to look at the overall picture
  • Business Acumen
