Sr. Manager, Ethics and Compliance

Lam Research’s Legal department is currently seeking an ethics and compliance professional with broad experience in developing, implementing, and managing an ethics and compliance program and infrastructure.  Specifically, this individual will be responsible for providing advice to in-house clients on a range of topics including conflicts of interest, anti-kickback, and anti-corruption.  This individual will conduct internal investigations, globally, and will ensure that employee or third-party concerns are addressed in a prompt and thorough manner.  The Sr. Manager, Ethics & Compliance reports to the Director of Ethics & Compliance.


Position Responsibilities:

  •  Provides legal services and advice to in-house clients, including accounts teams, foreign trade, supply chain, engineering, commercial team and others regarding ethics and compliance issues and the company’s ethics and compliance program.
  • Maintains and updates Lam’s ethics and compliance policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Collaborates with other corporate functions, including legal, security, internal audit, finance and human resources to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Reviews concerns raised through the Ethics & Compliance helpline or other channels, determines the appropriate action to be taken, including the investigation scope and plan.
  • Oversees or conducts internal investigations through every phase, including discovery, witness interviews, findings and recommendations.
  • Partners with Human Resources, Internal Audit, Security and other business units to conduct and ensure timely completion of investigations and remediation plans.
  • Stays current on enforcement and compliance requirement trends, identifies potential areas of risk, documents such assessments, and proposes and ensures appropriate individuals are assigned responsibility for oversight in risk areas.
  • Develops and delivers training and communications programs to educate employees and management and promote ethical and compliant culture.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of program elements and recommends and implements improvements based on such evaluation.
  • Prepares reports for senior management and the board of directors on the operation and status of the company’s compliance program.
  • Oversees outside counsel.
  • Manages conflicts of interest clearance and pre-approvals for gifts and entertainment.



  • JD degree and license to practice law in California required, other relevant jurisdictions welcome
  • Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience, including substantial experience in conducting internal investigations and/or litigation, preferably involving transnational laws such as anti-corruption laws and human resource matters
  • Strong experience in investigations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to analyze complex situations
  • Strong work ethic, team player
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from different cultures and multiple levels in the organization
  • Strongly preferred:
    • Mandarin or Korean language capability
    • Experience in or exposure to semiconductor industry
    • Practice experience in Asia
    • Prior in-house and/or government (SEC or DOJ) experience
