The Group You’ll Be A Part Of

Lam Research Corporation, a publicly traded industry leader, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Tax Manager specializing in U.S. Corporate Income Tax Compliance and Tax Controversy. This position will report directly to the Tax Director of Compliance and will be a key member of our high-performing Tax Team.

The Impact You’ll Make

The successful candidate will manage the preparation and filing of U.S. federal and state income tax returns, ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations, oversee tax audits and disputes, and contribute to strategic tax planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in U.S. federal and state tax regulations, demonstrate the ability to research complex tax matters, have a solid understanding of income tax provisions, and exhibit strong analytical and cross-departmental collaboration skills.

What You’ll Do

1. Tax Compliance:

  • Lead the preparation and filing of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax returns, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Review and approve tax workpapers, calculations, and supporting documentation prepared by the tax team.
  • Manage the tax calendar to ensure all filing deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
  • Support the accurate and timely reporting of tax positions and disclosures in financial statements, adhering to ASC 740 standards.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure proper tax compliance and reporting.

 

2. Tax Audit Support:

  • Manage federal and state tax audits, including the preparation of documentation, responding to inquiries, and liaising with tax authorities.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all tax positions and correspondences with tax authorities.
  • Oversee the documentation of tax positions to support ongoing and potential tax audits and disputes.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations and assessing their impact on the company’s tax positions.

 

3. Tax Planning and Advisory:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors on tax implications of business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings and credits and work to implement these initiatives.     

4. Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Provide training and support to team members, enhancing their technical skills and facilitating their professional growth.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree in Taxation preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in U.S. corporate income tax compliance and controversy, preferably within a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with ASC 740 income tax provision processes.
  • Proven experience managing tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with automation tools such as Alteryx and QuickBase is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented mindset with demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

 

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $129,000.00 -  $272,000.00.

 

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
