- Defines metrics and monitor supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement. Regularly evaluate quality and performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection.
- Encourages and coordinates early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or contractually complex new products parts design using the suppliers’ expertise to optimize quality and manufacturability.
- Works independently to develop and apply a strategic commodity plan to define a preferred supplier base for highly technical and/or contractually complex commodities.
- Represents supplier business management on a cross-functional strategic commodity team that focuses on strategic supply challenges, and to ensure internal/external customer needs are satisfied.
- Maintains current knowledge on relevant trends by personal contact, industry reports, trade journals, etc.
- Responsible for most supplier Global Agreement negotiations, renegotiations and contract addendums. Negotiates performance-based, preferred supplier agreements, to provide incentive for continuous supplier improvement.
- Advises commodity team leader on strategic plans.
- Applies Lean Manufacturing concepts, including 5S.
Experience: Hands-on experience through internships, co-ops, summer job, school projects, hobbies

- Solid analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including Executives
- Persistence – desire to drive to true root cause of problems
- English language skills required. Additional fluency in Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and/or Chinese is a plus
Degree: Minimum BS in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering. Technical background in Engineering or Science a plus
