Lam Research Corporation is looking to hire an experienced Supplier Business Manager (SBM) for our growing Indirect Materials and Services (IMS) Team, located in Fremont, California or Tualatin, Oregon.  Experience in Indirect Commodities, especially the Packaging and Global Logistics category, typical for large companies, is required (Experience in spending areas must include:  Global Logistics Services, Packaging, Crating, Transportation, Warehousing, Global Freight, Supply Chain, etc.). 


Roles & Responsibilities:  

Plans, organizes, controls, and drives change in the business/contracts/negotiations/cost savings for the strategic acquisition of Packaging and Global Logistics services and materials for Lam Research.  This role is for an individual contributor who is a self- starter and able to operate independently with minimal day to day supervision.  Will work proactively with Internal Customers to achieve their business objectives with our Indirect Suppliers.   Will be responsible to formulate and execute global, supply management strategies, with a focus on sourcing, cost savings, eliminating waste, and contract negotiations.


Primary Functions and Performance Objectives:

  • Partner with Internal Customers in Packaging, Global Logistics, Trade Compliance, and Supply Chain to develop, recommend, and support Strategic Sourcing Plans, Supplier Selection, Contracting, Negotiation Plans, Cost Savings, and Supplier Relationship Management activities to deliver value to the business.
  • Gathers metric requirements from Internal Customers, and monitors supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement.  Regularly evaluates quality and performance benchmarks on approved suppliers and develops Business Continuity Plans (BCP) on critical indirect commodities. 
  • Works closely with Internal Customers to develop sourcing strategies and gathers market intelligence in order to define preferred suppliers for highly technical and/or contractually complex commodities. 
  • Diagrams processes, identifies wastes, then leads teams to eliminate the wastes and improve speed while reducing total costs.
  • Represents the IMS Team on cross-functional Commodity Teams (CT) or in other Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs), as assigned by supervisor or Director, that focus on the strategic or operational challenges of Lam Internal Customers 
  • Maintains current knowledge on relevant trends by personal contact, industry reports, trade journals, etc.
  • Measured quantitatively (on basis of cost or value creation vs. existing baselines) and qualitatively (based on feedback of internal customers).

Requirements include, but not limited to:

  • Excellent analytical and written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization including Executives
  • 3-5 years of Global Packaging Procurement experience in large company environment (>$3B revenue preferred), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a Technical field of study.  



  • MBA and Institute for Supply Management Certification is a plus.
